He jokingly said that the other members’ assignments were even more challenging than his own. He mentioned:
“Their units were tough while mine is easy."
He also humorously noted that other members still have quite some time left before completing their service.
Jin reveals some whereabouts about him and his bandmates during their military enlistments
BTS’ Jin, who was the first member to enlist in the military in December 2022, got discharged on June 12, 2024. Following his return, j-hope was also released on October 17, while the remaining BTS members are still actively serving.
During a recent appearance on The K-Star Next Door, he shared some lighthearted anecdotes about his military experience and the bond he shares with his fellow BTS members. When the show host Jonathan asked the star about his time in the military, he shared how his bandmates leaned on him for support and advice as they prepared for their own enlistments.
He explained that the other members frequently called him, feeling nervous about starting their service, and looked to him for guidance since he had already gone through the initial experience. However, he humorously pointed out that, ironically, their military assignments turned out to be more demanding than his own.
Jin said:
“I told my members not to worry so much. I told them things would get better over time. After they joined the army, they were assigned to a unit. A week or two later, they called me. They were saying their units were completely different from mine. Their units were so tough, and my unit was easy.”
At the end of the show, Jin was asked to send a message to his fellow BTS members who are still serving in the military. In response, he shared some words of encouragement:
“You’ll have to do your best. Do your best. You can do it.”
He also shared insights about his interactions with other soldiers during his service. He said he "never scolded his juniors." He added that he doesn't understand why people would do that. The K-pop idol said that if juniors don't know something, "just teach them again." He talked about fostering a camaraderie with his subordinates by sharing snacks and treats with them.
In other news, Jin will appear as a guest on comedian Jang Do-yeon's YouTube talk show, Salon Drip 2. The episode will air on November 5, 2024.
