On July 4, 2024, BLACKPINK's Lisa faced plagiarism accusations for her latest single, ROCKSTAR, because of a statement from Travis Scott's FE!N MV director Gabriel Moses. Moses shared screenshots of the K-pop idol's video, comparing it to sequences from the FE!N music video on his Instagram story, and gave Lisa and her team a month to contact him over the alleged plagiarized video sequence.

On July 5, Gabriel Moses took to X and posted that the K-pop idol's team allegedly approached his editor for ROCKSTAR and referenced a snippet from FE!N. However, Moses' team refused it and yet the K-pop idol "did it anyway."

The particular scene shows the BLACKPINK idol standing amidst several dancers wearing white hoodies, which is like a scene from Travis Scott's music video.

He wrote on X,

"They reached out to my editor to work on this btw & Fein was the reference. He said nah & they did it anyway. Enjoy the rest of your day"

Travis Scott's MV director's accusations against Lisa intensify

On July 6, Gabriel Moses shared a screenshot of an email he received on his X account (@gabrielomoses). In the email, someone imposed "Lisa Manobal" and asked him to release a statement to clear the plagiarism accusation made against the BLACKPINK idol.

According to the email, the person stated of having proof of an RCA Records staff member's email and implied that Gabriel Moses might face consequences for making such accusations. The email addressed themselves as "Lisa’s fanbases."

Gabriel Moses faced an online backlash as the ROCKSTAR rapper's fans bombarded his DM and commented, expressing their anger. After the original accusations, many fans defended the BLACKPINK idol by pointing out that the idea he claimed as his own had already been used in other works.

London-based Gabriel Moses is a self-taught Nigerian photographer and filmmaker who has collaborated with artists including Travis Scott, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell, Kanye, and Skepta. He is well-known for his collaborations with brands including Dior, Apple, Adidas, and Burberry, among others.

The hate comments against him intensified online, and he tweeted on X,

"Why am I knee deep in k-pop beef is everyone crazy"

Meanwhile, the BLACKPINK idol's company, LLOUD, has issued no statement addressing the matter.

In other news, the BLACKPINK rapper's latest single, ROCKSTAR, came out on June 28, 2024, and became the fastest music video by a K-pop Act in 2024 to reach 2 million views on YouTube. As of July 7, 2024, Lisa's video has accumulated over 87 million YouTube views.
