Former RIIZE member Seunghan's Weverse profile was officially removed on October 17, 2024, sparking outrage among fans. Many feel that SM Entertainment acted prematurely, as protests calling for his reinstatement are still ongoing. In addition to removing his profile, the group has now been officially listed as having six members, further fueling frustration amongst many fans.
Expressing disappointment over the 21-year-old idol's removal, despite demands for his reinstatement, a fan wrote:
"They don't care about our voice."
As a form of protest and in solidarity with Seunghan, many fans have begun exiting the RIIZE Weverse community, expressing their anger in the comments. They argue that removing him from the group is unjust and feel that SM Entertainment has not handled the situation fairly.
“You can take down his weverse profile you can delete posts but you will never erase how the members wanted him back in riize you will never make us forget how wonbin stood up for him,” a fan wrote.
“It's unacceptable!!,” another fan exclaimed.
“I only downloaded weverse to support seunghan. I'm uninstalling weverse now,” someone revealed.
Many fans criticized RIIZE's agency for not standing up for their artists against bullying from fans with extreme parasocial tendencies.
“I’m just pissed at this point SM get your act together and stop with these’s stupid statements he deserves to come back and you know it,” an enraged fan remarked.
“LETS KEEP FIGHTING FOR SEUNGHAN,” another fan wrote in support.
“THIS URGES ME TO KEEP FIGHTING MORE,” a resilient fan said.
Seunghan is officially no longer on Weverse
On October 14, 2024, RIIZE's Seunghan officially announced his departure from the group following an indefinite hiatus that began in November 2023. He had just returned from this hiatus on October 11, briefly delighting fans before the sudden announcement of his exit.
The hiatus stemmed from backlash over leaked photos of him kissing a girl and smoking, which some K-pop fans deemed inappropriate. These photos were reportedly taken before the former idol made his debut with RIIZE.
The controversy was significant enough to force him into a break, and RIIZE continued as a six-member group during that time. In his Weverse announcement, the young singer-dancer explained that he believed his group had suffered due to the controversy surrounding his leaked photos. He expressed that it would be best for him to step down permanently, acknowledging the toll the situation had taken on his fellow members.
This decision ignited much opposition, with fans demanding his reappointment, and responding with threats of mass boycott of the group's future activities.
Within less than 24 hours since the idol's exit, RIIZE lost about 40,500 followers on X, 78,850 followers on Instagram, and about 50,000 followers on TikTok.
Their frustration deepened when SM Entertainment swiftly removed the idol's Weverse profile and officially labeled RIIZE as a six-member group.
Despite the official announcements, a segment of the fandom continues to hope for Seunghan’s return, holding onto the belief that the group could reunite as OT7. Fans are actively engaging in online protests to express their dissatisfaction.
