On July 4, 2024, BTS released their ARMY MEMBERSHIP Renewal Message video on their YouTube channel, BANGTANTV, informing fans about renewing the Weverse app subscription and its added features.
However, fans quickly noticed that the video was pre-filmed before the members' military enlistment. Some BTS ARMY noted that the new clip was filmed on the same day when they filmed for the 2023 ARMY MEMBERSHIP Renewal Message video. Social media was filled with humorous reactions to the band's outfit change and filming strategy.
One fan further added,
"They changed their clothes as if we won't notice it lmao"
ARMY appreciated the band for their efforts in filming several pieces of content for fans till 2025 before they enlisted in the military.
"Changing clothes and shoes to make a years difference on the same day oh they're so precious" — a fan wrote.
"BTS stylist Noona in 2022: "So this (outfit) set for 2023, and this is for 2024, oh! And this is for 2025"." — another fan joked.
"Funny things aside, making sure they're here and is able to give us content when they're not around is everything to me" — a fan remarked.
"I appreciate consideration. I appreciate the effort of changing outfits and shootin for a different year. I actually appreciate how hard they prepped and worked for chapter 2. I feel seen and validated and loved so dearly and deeply!" — a fan wrote.
While some fans made fun of BTS for constantly trying to trickle their followers in funny ways, others emphasized that BTS has always been ahead of the game when it comes to content preparation.
"SOMETIMES I WONDER DO THEY HAVE ANY CONCEPT OF REAL TIME? DO THEY GET CONFUSED SINCE THEY ARE SO AHEAD OF EVERYTHING LIKE THEY COULD BE ON THEIR 203O COMEBACK AT THIS RATE." — a fan commented.

BTS lauded by fans for their pre-filming content strategy before their military enlistment
BTS' eldest member, Jin, was the first to enlist in the South Korean military on December 13, 2022. Before that, he pre-filmed 18 monthly video messages for ARMYs which were released on the band's official Instagram account and BANGTANTV. He also prepared several episodes of Drunken Truth and featured on SUGA's Suchwita episode, among others.
J-Hope was the second to enlist on April 18, 2023, and pre-recorded his second solo album HOPE ON THE STREET VOL.1, released on March 29, 2024. He also pre-filmed his second documentary series, HOPE ON THE STREET, before his enlistment and the show was released on March 29, 2024, on Amazon Prime Video.
SUGA enlisted on September 22, 2023, and had told his fans on his Weverse LIVE about having filmed several episodes of his YouTube talk show, Suchwita. The rapper and music producer had also filmed for Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip5 and also released D-DAY World Tour behind-the-scenes videos on YouTube in between 2023 and 2024.
BTS' frontman Kim Namjoon aka RM pre-recorded his second solo album, Right Place, Wrong Person, and released it on May 24, 2024. He filmed the music videos, MMM (Mini & Moni Music), before he enlisted on December 11, 2023, alongside Kim Taehyung aka V.
Taehyung pre-filmed for his solo single FRI(END)S, UMI's single wherever u r, and IU's Love Wins music video. He also prepared his upcoming photo book TYPE 1, releasing on July 9, 2024.
Jimin and Jungkook enlisted on December 12, 2023. Jimin's second solo album, MUSE, will be released on July 19, 2024. They also filmed an eight-episode travel show airing on Disney+ on August 8, 2024.
Currently, BTS' Jin was discharged from the military on June 12, 2024. The rest of six members are still serving in the military and J-Hope will return in October 2024. Meanwhile, RM, V, Jimin, Jungkook, and SUGA will return in June 2025.
