Netflix K-drama Love Next Door starring Jung So-min, Jung Hae-in, Kim Ji-eun, and Yoon Ji-on received online criticism for alleged poor script writing.

The rom-com drama follows the story of two friends, Choi Seung-hyo, played by Jung Hae-in and Bae Seok-ryu, depicted by Jung So-min, who spent most of their lives together because their mothers were best friends.

Choi Seung-hyo and Bae Seok-ryu's romance begins in their 30s as they reunite after living far away for a few years due to their work. The tvN drama was one of the most anticipated series due to its promising cast including Jung So-min and Jung Hae-in and it has been a hot topic on social media because of its storyline.

However, South Korean netizens and International viewers have voiced their opinions after watching the episodes aired so far and expressed their disappointment in Love Next Door.

The viewers allege that the script writing of the show is shoddily done and stated that Jung Hae-in and Jung So-min's talents have been wasted.

"Currently on ep7 of love next door and the writing feels so disjointed and tbh sometimes boring? Almost as if they fed Kdrama tropes as a prompt into ChatGPT and asked it to write a script Ughh it has so much potential and I absolutely love hae in and so min but ughhh." - a netizen said
"The writing is so weak but eps 10-11 (hopefully till the end) are just so good we finally got the romcom from great pairing I love them so much."- a user stated
"I'm so disappointed of #LoveNextDoor A romantic comedy series in which I do not want the two leads to end up together can't be a good sign. The writing choices baffle me."- another user added

Netizens also mentioned not enjoying the side plot of Love Next Door because of its alleged incoherent flow.

"speaking my truth: i think love next door is just not that good of a show. the writing is very weird and the characters are also sloppy. the show is entirely relying on the actors' starpower to pull through and the script has been extremely weak so far."- a user said
"If I can just nitpick, someone pls let the lnd writers know Africa is a whole a*s continent them writing down "France, Africa..." in the list of countries Hyesuk has been assigned to previously is just in this day and age too!"- a fan wrote
