On December 18, 2024, BTS’ Jungkook hosted a Weverse livestream. The idol revealed he had received special permission from the military to go live as he has been serving his conscription since December 2023. He said he wanted to showcase his newly decorated house and connect with fans.
However, while the livestream was filled with lighthearted moments, including karaoke sessions, Jungkook was at the center of controversy for covering the song APT. without mentioning BLACKPINK's Rosé.
During the stream, the BTS idol sang several songs, including APT, a track co-written and produced by Bruno Mars and featured on Rosé's album rosie. Jungkook praised Bruno Mars' vocal performance in the song but did not explicitly credit Rosé, which upset some fans who accused him of neglecting her contributions.
Supporters of Jungkook were quick to defend him, pointing out that his livestream was meant as a casual interaction and not a formal performance. Fans defending Jungkook emphasized that his admiration for Bruno Mars does not diminish Rosé’s artistic contributions.
"The only reason they don’t show public interactions is because they know how crazy their fandoms can be with one another. they don’t want to add further hate by interacting which is really sad"
Several fans came forward to defend the BTS idol and criticised those who misunderstood him for only mentioning Bruno Mars.
"If you stop caring about fanwars you'll be in a much better place tbh," one fan wrote.
"Hope someday #BLACKPINK will have a collab with #BTS and praying fans will not be toxic," another fan wrote.
"I can't because blinks mass spammed him to sing that song despite him saying he doesn't know it well. Then they get mad at for him not knowing the lyrics and not taking it seriously, y'all wanted his validation so so bad HELP!" one other fan added.
Others mentioned that the "hate train" against the BTS singer was "stupid."
"I hate each and every fandom trying to drag in the quotes. Y'all just a bunch of miserable tw!nks who can't let others live and enjoy their lives. Clap back this...Clap back that.. nah y'all just jobless to even hold such stupid grudges like that," one fan said.
"Them akgaes and Blinks trying to hate on here, Babe this does NOT work on him, maybe act normal for once and stop trying to ruin every single interaction we get between kpop idols?! Yall look pathetic in quotes with your attempts," another fan stated.
"The quotes on this tweet vs on the bruno's fan accounts' for covering dwas, blinks wanted that praise validation bad they're fuming to the point of trying to initiate a hate train on a jungkook singing video as if it wouldn't fail in theory alone, and clearly in practice too," a fan said.
