On July 28, 2024, an X user, @pjmsprotector, allegedly threatened to leak BTS Jungkook's passport picture and details online, as reported by Pannkpop. As per Pannkpop, the account leaked Jungkook's passport information after someone claimed that BTS Jimin's MUSE chart rankings were falsified.
Furthermore, @pjmsprotector allegedly asked for 100 streaming screenshots from her followers—who were allegedly Jimin's solo stans—before leaking Jungkook's passport details. Later, Pannkpop reported that the account posted the picture, however, the parts of the idol's passport information were redacted.
The X account was immediately suspended within 10 minutes of her previous tweets. BTS fanbase expressed concern, alleging that the act was of a 'Sasaeng' who intended BTS ARMY to have an internal conflict.
For the unversed, a Sasaeng is a Korean term for an obsessive fan/stalker who often violates a celebrity's private life, causing safety concerns with their reckless behavior. The news went viral on Weibo (Chinese social media app) and Chinese fans criticized Jimin and his reported "solo stans," alleging that they leaked the data.
This accusation stemmed from the original perpetrator's (@pjmsprotector) X username as the user is alleged to be a big Jimin fan. Meanwhile, an X user, @herismaddiew, wrote on X,
"BTS members reputation including Jimin are being tainted. This is alarming."
BTS ARMY united on social media to voice their concern and tagged BIGHIT MUSIC to sue the perpetrators.
"I don't want something like this to happen! It's a violation of privacy. It's terrible," a netizen wrote.
"@BIGHIT_MUSIC sue that bunch of loser pls protect your artist, Jeon Jungkook," another netizen added.
"When you don’t have anything to drag or talk about, this is what you do. Pathetic," another netizen commented.
ARMY also criticized the perpetrators and advised them to refrain from posting "edited photos" online.
"The delusion to think c-nets using edited photos to drag. Just cz u r jobless with no life outside & used to be with same kind people dosen't mean we all are. Learn to differentiate between trolls & real people with a life outside," one other netizen remarked.
"You people will get your karma for doing this," one netizen wrote.
"It's 2024 and people still believe everything they see on the internet. Stupid is forever, I guess," one other netizen remarked.
