On June 27, 2024, the internet users were divided as they claimed that the Carnival Editorial for Puma Speedcat's latest photoshoot drew inspiration from BLACKPINK Jennie's SPOT! outfit.

Previously, the Instagram account @carnivalbkk shared the latest photoshoot featuring a female model flaunting the brand's franchise Speedcat on June 26. In one of the editorials, the model donned a long-length white-colored top styled with a grey mini skirt and scarf. She complemented her overall appearance with black sunglasses and arm sleeves. The model tied her hair in a small ponytail.

Soon, internet users started comparing the Carnival Edition x Puma’s latest photoshoot model's outfit and styling choice to BLACKPINK Jennie's SPOT! fashion statement and garments.

BLACKPINK Jennie recently collaborated with the South Korean singer Zico for their track SPOT! In the teaser images for SPOT! Jennie donned a long-length grey colored printed top styled with a mini-skirt. Subsequently, Carnival Edition x Puma’s latest photoshoot model, which has a similar outfit to BLACKPINK Jennie, sparked heated debate on the internet. While one side claimed that the costume design team might have taken inspiration from the K-pop idol, the other side accused the shoewear brand of allegedly plagiarising the singer. Subsequently, an X user tweeted:

"Hey you should fire your costume design team! This is blatantly copying #Jennie fashion style. Yikes!!!!"

Netizens, filled with anger, accused the shoewear brand of allegedly copying BLACKPINK Jennie's fashion statement and called them out on social media. Many also bragged about how the brands allegedly used the idol's styling to captivate the attention of potential consumers.
