BLACKPINK's Jennie has gained the attention of netizens after she announced six collaborations on her upcoming solo album, Ruby. On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Jennie released an album teaser that gave a glimpse of the concept of her solo music.

According to the video, Jennie is partnering with global artists such as Dua Lipa, Doechii, Kali Uchis, Childish Gambino, Dominic Fike, and FKJ. Previously, Jennie collaborated with Dua Lipa as a part of BLACKPINK for their song Kiss And Make Up.

While many fans are excited, as this would mark her first full-length studio album, several netizens have criticized the K-pop idol, believing she has joined forces with too many musicians for this album. Some accused her of seeking “Western validation” by making music with artists who are widely popular in the West.

“Who will carry the album? This is called western validation btw. Why did they debut on western market if it was all about featuring artist?,” a netizen said.
“Announcing the collab list before the track list is some serious clout chasing,” another netizen said.
“I thought having one collab in an album is considered as leeching. Now what this gonna be called? I don't understand with her stans and the haters,” a user stated.

Netizens continued to criticize the BLACKPINK member for collaborating with six different artists.

“Having 6 collaborations on a debut album is crazy, this is a new level of desperation unlocked,” a user commented.
“It’s crazy how blinks dragged jungkook during Golden era for "western validation" but now the stuff they were dragging Jungkook for is what their favs are doing on their first albums,” another user commented.

On the other hand, Jennie's fans showcased her love and support on X.

“We, jensetters, were lowky expecting one feature but now it's a whole line up. we're getting DOECHII, DOMINIC FIKE, DUA LIPA, FKJ, AND KALI UCHIS ON THE SAME ALBUM?!?!?!? YUP, JENNIE IS WORKING!,” a fan wrote.
“jennie linking up with dua and gambino is artistic range that very few of these girls have…this is gonna be legendary. i’m so hyped for my girl ahhh,” a fan reacted.
“this is already such an avengers type of features on your debut album this about to be an instant smash omfg,” a fan stated.
