Mingyu of SEVENTEEN was allegedly improperly touched during his recent Lollapalooza performance, which angered fans. On September 8, SEVENTEEN played in front of a sizable audience in Berlin, headlining the 2024 Lollapalooza Festival in Germany.
A clip from the show went viral online where the LALALI rapper went over to the barricade to speak with the crowd. Unfortunately, someone reportedly touched his body—particularly his abs—while he was interacting with the crowd. This infuriated CARATs. They took to social media, posting nonstop about how one should never touch an idol without permission.
Supporters expressed their displeasure, stating that some individuals misbehave without thinking twice. They emphasized that Mingyu's approach to the audience should have been appreciated and that it is never acceptable to touch someone without their consent.
One fan wrote on X,
"This is harassment, please don't do this carat."
Others rallied behind the post and expressed their rage and frustration over the particular fan's alleged misconduct.
"Touching his stomach without consent just because he’s a celebrity and close to you doesn’t mean you have any right… sick of how mingyu is treated," one fan wrote.
"If this was a female idol, this would be s*xual harassment. fans wtf are we doing, even if he didnt flinch or complain, this is so wrong," another fan remarked.
"I hope he wasn't uncomfortable. Is that person not a Carat? They would've known how Mingyu is..." another fan said.
Several fans stated that some fans "don't deserve to see" the idols up close as they end up crossing a line and misbehaving with the idols.
"Mingyu stood close to the crowd bc he trusted Carats! Why are you touching him without his permission?" one fan wrote.
"Some of you don’t deserve to see them yeah i should be there not you at least i know how to respect people," one other fan added.
"Do yall go to random strangers and touch them without their permission? no ... so why do y’all think it's okay to touch mingyu without his permission just bc he got close to u. him being famous doesn’t mean yall get the right to touch him like that," another fan said.
CARATs left with tons of memories after witnessing SEVENTEEN headlines the 2024 Lollapalooza Berlin
Mingyu turned heads with his curly hairdo and black sunglasses. The LALALI rapper made fans laugh by getting down from the stage and standing close to the barricade to interact with CARATs (Seventeen's official fandom name).
He smiled for the cameras and made a funny face when a fan gave him a pair of sunglasses that weren't Dior. Joking about it online, CARATs said that Mingyu remembered his contract obligations and professionalism as a Dior representative and looked up the brand of sunglasses before turning them down.
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN jazzed the Berlin Lollapalooza crowd by performing 19 tracks such as MAESTRO, HOT, Super, and Cheers To Youth, among others. They surprised the fans as the whole group performed Cheers—originally a track by S.Coups, Hoshi, and Woozi. However, SEVENTEEN's Jun's absence didn't go unnoticed.
