On Tuesday, December 17, fans began to speculate that the scheduled collaboration between NewJeans and Fortnite, the online video game platform, might not take place. The reason behind the same, fans stated, could be due to the ongoing contract dispute between the K-pop girl group and its agencies, HYBE and ADOR.

In November, social media influencer Jorge Most revealed that the K-pop girl group would be collaborating with Fortnite, and the collaboration would also feature skin released for all five members. While the collaboration was scheduled to take place in December initially, it was later postponed to January 2025.
However, with the latest news on NewJeans departing ADOR and its parent company, HYBE Labels, fans are anticipating that collaboration might not fall through. Here are a few fan reactions regarding the same:

All you need to know about NewJeans' departure from ADOR
On November 28, NewJeans held an emergency press conference where they announced that they would be terminating their exclusive contract with ADOR. This was announced on the last of the 14-day ultimatum they gave ADOR. The ultimatum demanded a certain set of actions from the agency in order for the group to continue their stay under ADOR.
However, due to the agency's failure to meet the demands, the members decided to depart from ADOR. During the emergency press conference, the members also stated that they received an email from ADOR right before the meeting. They added that they hadn't read the email since they were firm about their decision.
Here's what the member Minji said about the same during the emergency press conference:
"They sent their response an hour before and we confirmed it. The contents of the email were serious. The email stated that 14 days was not enough time, that they regretted there was no communication with ADOR, and that there were matters they couldn't address because they weren't ADOR's doing," Minji said.
She continued,
"However, they took no substantial action and we had made these demands back in September as well. The email was full of lies and excuses and was merely a stalling tactic. Therefore, we are terminating our exclusive contract as of midnight on the 29th."
While the group has clarified their intentions to depart from ADOR as of November 29, the agency has been persistent about the group returning and continuing schedules under them.
