BLACKPINK's Rosé's first full-length album ‘rosie’ received mid ratings from media publication Pitchfork facing backlash online. On December 6, 2024, Rosé dropped ‘rosie’ on all major music services platforms worldwide garnering appreciation from fans and several listeners.
On December 19, Pitchfork published an article reviewing Rosé's twelve-track album where they critically analyzed the genre of songs and the BLACKPINK vocalist’s music style.
One of the excerpts from the review referring to Rosé’s Instagram post read:
“With this album, I hope you all feel that much closer to me.” But rosie lacks the sense of identity required to tell this story, boasting only dated pop references and a generic feeling of lingering heartache.”
The publication gave an overall rating of 5.5 out of 10, which received negative reactions from fans on social media. They disliked the review and found it underwhelming. To showcase their disappointment with Pitchfork’s review, fans voiced their thoughts on X.

Why should someone care about the opinion of annoying magazine? Especially if we know the real reaction of REAL critics lol. Millions of people love this album for a reason.”- a fan wrote
“I never trust pitchfork review anymore after all the absurd reviews they gave to other artists. so honestly I'm not surprised that they also gave rosie a low score. pitchfork is just ass at giving reviews.”- a user said
