On September 4, 2024, BTS' agency BIGHIT released a special trailer for RM: Right People, Wrong Place. This comes just a day after it was announced that Kim Nam-joon's documentary would debut at the 29th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).
Directed by Lee Seok-jun, the 80-minute documentary explores the process behind Namjoon's second solo album, Right Place, Wrong Person, and chronicles eight months of his life leading to his military enlistment in December 2023. The 1:47-minute trailer offered a glimpse into this cinematic project, featuring the BTS leader reflecting on his experiences. He is heard saying,
"I think that's why I felt that way. The bridges are burnt I can't go back there anyway. I thought I knew where I was going when I came here, but I didn’t? You know, just be more honest and frank and just be real, be me".
Fans of RM flooded social media with praise for the visually stunning and aesthetically pleasing cinematography showcased in the trailer. They expressed how the trailer beautifully captured RM's personality, with many sharing their excitement and anticipation for the official release of the documentary.

The 29th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) is scheduled to run from October 2 to 11, 2024, showcasing films across 28 screens in seven different theaters.
BIGHIT further announced that details regarding ticket sales for the global cinema release of the documentary will be provided at a later date. Tickets for the “Open Cinema” event, where the documentary will be screened, can be purchased through the Busan International Film Festival's official website or the BIFF app.
According to The Daily Star on September 3, Festival programmer Kang So-won explained that RM's film distinguished itself from other Korean documentaries due to its distinctive perspective and would offer a refreshing experience to the audience at the festival.
He highlighted that this is only the second time a documentary has been featured in the Open Cinema section, noting that it would appeal not only to RM's fans but also to the general public.
Kang So-won also mentioned that while RM, who is currently fulfilling his military service, will not be attending the festival, the film's director and other key contributors will be present to interact with the audience.
