The company took to its X (formerly Twitter) account to publish a series of photographs featuring the member of the highly acclaimed South Korean boy band.

Samsung and BTS Suga's special collaboration for the Freestyle 2nd Gen projector was unveiled in September 2023 previously. Followed by various brand films released in October 2023.

Meanwhile, the fans responded with great enthusiasm when these images were uploaded. They promptly took the platform to express their excitement. One Army posted on X, formerly known as Twitter:

"Thank you this made my day much better."

The post was published in the midst of ongoing discussions and speculations regarding Samsung's potential decision to discontinue its brand ambassadorial relationship with the artist due to his electric scooter riding incident while under the influence.

Consequently, when these photographs were released, dedicated fans of BTS and Suga promptly took to social media platforms to express their delight.

Suga's brand ambassador deal with Samsung

Following the DUI incident on August 6, there was significant media speculation regarding the potential termination of Samsung's brand ambassadorial relationship with the five-time Grammy-nominated artist.

This speculation arose after Samsung Germany reportedly removed promotional images of Suga holding the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra from its official X account on August 17. The Korea Herald, a Korean media outlet, cited an anonymous source familiar with the situation on August 28. They stated:

"There is a risk in promoting someone as a brand ambassador who has caused a social controversy, regardless of the person's fandom. It is a serious matter and requires a lot of careful consideration”.

However, there was no official statement released by Samsung. The reason for this was speculated to be due to the deal involving BTS as a whole and not just Suga.

The strategic partnership between Samsung and BTS, initiated in February 2020, has yielded several noteworthy projects. This collaboration was a deliberate move by Samsung to capitalize on BTS's global influence and youthful appeal to expand its reach, particularly among millennial and Gen Z demographics.

This strategic alliance resulted in the introduction of BTS-themed Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy Buds+ editions, accompanied by a collaborative video showcased on the prominent screens of Times Square in New York City in August 2022.

Furthermore, Yoongi amplified the partnership's significance through an unexpected appearance at the Galaxy Unpacked event held in Seoul in July 2023, as a global ambassador.

During his solo world tour concert in the US in 2023, the brand ambassador famously stated his preference for Galaxy over iPhone when a fan requested a photograph with their iPhone.

"No IPhone, this is Galaxy" Suga said during his concert.

Suga's DUI incident

On August 6, 2024, Min Yoongi also known as Suga was reported to be charged for riding an electric scooter while being under the influence of alcohol.

As per the Weverse post by the BTS rapper, he consumed a few drinks with his friends and subsequently rode his electric scooter to his apartment, which was approximately 500 meters away. However, he was unaware that operating an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol was against the law.

Although there were no injuries, a nearby police officer's attention was drawn when the K-pop star fell while taking a turn, entering his apartment building.

In a recent development, the rapper appeared at Yongsan Police Station for police questioning. On August 30, The police revealed that the case had been handed over to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors Office.

Currently, Min Yoongi is fulfilling his mandatory military service as a South Korean citizen. He is serving as a social worker and is expected to complete his military service in the year 2025.
