Stray Kids' tribute NSYNC with their performance of the song Bye Bye Bye
Stray Kids became the second-ever K-pop act to perform at the prestigious American Music Awards (AMAs), following BTS, who first graced the stage in 2021 with their hit song DNA.
At the 2024 AMAs, they turned up the heat with an energetic performance, marking the 50th anniversary of the award show. On October 6, 2024, the group not only performed their own track Chk Chk Boom from their EP Ate, but also paid tribute to the legendary American boy band NSYNC.
Their tribute to NSYNC was a major highlight, as the group recreated the iconic marionette-style choreography from NSYNC’s hit Bye Bye Bye. This nod to the boy band resonated deeply with longtime fans, particularly since NSYNC's song was recently used in the Deadpool & Wolverine movie.
Coincidentally, the octet themselves contributed to the film’s soundtrack with their song Slash, and the movie’s stars, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds, even made cameo appearances in the group’s Chk Chk Boom music video.
The performance left a lasting impression, with many NSYNC fans in particular, becoming new fans of Stray Kids, calling the tribute an emotional moment. The group’s energy and skill in blending their style with classic elements made them the talk of the night, and audiences were eager to know more about the members.
After the show, the group gave an interview about their admiration for other boy bands like NSYNC and 5 Seconds of Summer. They also expressed excitement about seeing Green Day at the event and shared that this was their first time doing a tribute dance. The group reflected on how much fun it was and how honored they felt to perform such a special tribute.
Stray Kids' standout performance was undoubtedly one of the key highlights of the 2024 AMAs, earning them praise and new fans worldwide.
