On September 19, 2024, the American streaming platform Netflix revealed their Engagement Report that provided detailed information about what viewers watched from January to June this year. According to the latest report, people have consumed different genres of stories for over 94 billion hours in the first half of 2024.

Korean dramas are known for their relatable plots, appealing visuals, cinematography, catchy original soundtracks (OSTs), versatile actors, and other aspects. They continue to dominate the OTT platform with different stories. Queen of Tears has emerged as the most-watched and consumed Korean drama on Netflix, followed by My Demon, True Beauty, Doctor Slump, and other shows.

1) Queen of Tears

Queen of Tears has emerged as the most-consumed and watched Korean drama on Netflix, recording overall 29 million views and 689.5 million viewing hours. The drama is the 14th most-watched show on the American streaming platform.

The romance and comedy Korean drama depicts the love story of Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in, who are on the verge of divorce, and how they overcome the challenges faced during their married life. It features Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won in the leading roles.


2) My Demon

The drama features prominent actors, including Cha Eun-woo, Hwang In-youp, and Moon Ga-young. It follows the story of Lim Joo-kyung, who is bullied and discriminated at the former school due to her looks. After she joins the new school, the female protagonist transforms herself using the art of makeup and gets entangled in a love triangle between two best friends.

Welcome to Samdalri depicts the story of a successful photographer who escapes the glamorous life of Seoul after getting embroiled into a controversy. Returning to her hometown in Jeju Island, she reunites with her childhood friends and love, taking a new stride in life.

King the Land featurs Im Yoon-ah and Lee Jun-ho as the leading pair. It depicts the love story between the heir of conglomerate The King Group, Gu Won, and an ambitious hotelier, Cheon Sa-rang.

Although the smash hit romance series Crash Landing on You premiered on Netflix in 2019, it still continues to dominate the streaming platform in 2024. The drama has garnered over 131.2 million viewing hours and secured 5.8 million views in the first half of 2024.
