“Touched by the Jungkook effect”- Fans react as BTS idol’s Are You Sure?! fashion statement turns charitable with limited edition T-shirt

On August 14, 2024, the news channel, WTNH News8 reported that the T-shirts BTS' Jungkook and Jimin wore from a local kayak shop in Old Lyme, were sold out. The shop has also started a limited edition line of which 10% of the profit will be donated to UNICEF.

The T-shirt line from Black Hall Outfitters in Old Lyme, Connecticut, had been sold out quickly after the episode of Are You Sure?! aired. The BTS members were seen wearing the same, in the first two episodes. Fans reacted proudly and took on social media like X (formerly Twitter) to express their joy and amazement.

"Touched by the jungkook effect.. thankful that they’ve made their own ripple," one fan said.

"His falling off from the kayak became their blessing. Thanks to JK," another fan said

"Sold out king Jungkook😍🔥," one fan added.

"Def Jungkook’s impact🥰" another X user commented.

Fans also commented on the news clip uploaded on the WTNH News8 YouTube page.

"Anything BTS touch will automatically sell out!" one fan said.

"Kudos to the shop owner for giving shirts to Jungkook and Jimin. They knew if they wore the shirt on the show they would prove to be the sell out kings as usual. Kudos to the owner for giving 10% to UNICEF! 💜💜I am sure the owner figured out that BTS supports UNICEF," another fan added.

More about the reason behind Jungkook and Jimin wearing the T-shirt and 10% of the profit going to UNICEF

The first episode of Are You Sure, the Disney+ travel documentary show aired on August 8, 2024. In the first episode, Jungkook and Jimin went on a Kayaking adventure. As Jimin set off, Jungkook known for his competitive nature, quickly tried to pick up pace to match Jimin.

However, to his surprise and evoking laughter from his accompanying fellow member Jimin, while peddling the kayak tilted to a side and soon flipped over. It made the youngest BTS member fall into the water.

Later on in the episode, while the members drove back to their camping site, both the members were seen wearing different clothes than they had been wearing before. The keen eyes of the BTS ARMY took no time to find out where the T-shirt line was from and rushed to the shop.

As stated by the owner of the kayak shop to WTNH News8, when the episode was shot in 2023, as a change of wet clothes for Jungkook, he pulled out a couple of T-shirts from the shop's signature 'Salty to the Core' t-shirt line and gave him. He wasn't expecting the T-shirt line to blow up this much, a year later.

WTNH News8 reported that the shop has also started a limited edition line called "The Army 💜" with the same crab-printed purple T-shirts, of which 10% of the profit will go to UNICEF. All of those were too sold out throughout the world.

Additionally, the BTS ARMY also gathered in the Kayaking place in crowds. They wanted to visit the place where the episode was filmed and to sit on the same kayaks.

Before this BTS had collaborated with UNICEF for charitable reasons on various occasions. Through their LOVE MYSELF campaign with UNICEF, they created a Global campaign to help end violence and neglect and promote self-esteem worldwide.

In 2021 they also renewed their commitment to this campaign with UNICEF and pledged over $1 million. As of March 2024, BIGHIT MUSIC, BTS, and their fans have raised around $6.6 million through the campaign.

Where to watch Are You Sure?!

The travel mini-series with 8 episodes, starring the two BTS members premiered its first and second episodes on Disney+ on August 8, 2024. The new episodes would air every Thursday on the streaming platform.

The show follows Jungkook and Jimin traveling together in picturesque locations of New York State in America, Jeju Island in South Korea, and Sapporo in Japan
