As the interview began, BLACKPINK's Lisa congratulated Tyla for bagging two awards at the BET Awards. Meanwhile, Tyla thanked the K-pop star and told her that her latest music video, Rockstar, was cool.
The two pop stars also discussed their homeland and culture, adding that they liked bringing elements of the same in their music. Lisa noted that the video for Rockstar was shot in Thailand and had several Thai elements.
Tyla stated that she loved sharing her culture with her fans but while she did enjoy the fun phase, she believed not many people understood the message she wanted to convey. She added that she learned to detach herself from people who didn't care enough to learn about her culture when she showcased it.
She also spoke about how she felt when people cared about the culture and tried to understand her message.
"But the people who do care, it's been such an amazing experience teaching people are different cultures and languages, our dances moves, the way we chant. It's exciting seeing everyone appreciate it," Tyla said.
Lisa then told Tyla that she found out about her through the Water Challenge, which was based on Tyla's song of the same name. The BLACKPINK member complimented her fellow star, claiming that when she saw Tyla performing the song, she wondered who the singer was.
Lisa then started following the singer on social media and tried to find out everything she could about her. Tyla, meanwhile, responded and told BLACKPINK's Lisa that she was her favorite among all members.
"You brought some edge to the group, which was so cool. Your rapping and just the way you moved and the way you dressed was so cool. Me and my best friend would watch those videos all the time."
