MBC's upcoming Friday-Saturday drama, Undercover High School, dropped its teaser on January 7, 2025, ahead of its premiere in February. While the exact release date is not yet revealed, the series follows an NIS agent who goes undercover as a high school student.

He is tasked to track down Emperor Gojong's missing gold bullion, as reported by Maeil Business Newspaper on January 7, 2025.

Actors Jeon Bae-soo, Lee Seo-hwan, Yoon Ga-i, and Cho Bok-rae join forces as NIS agents in the highly anticipated upcoming drama. Writer Lim Young-bin, known for his storytelling in Sketch and Truth Match, teams up with director Choi Jung-in, acclaimed for his work on Only Without Crazy and Flowers Blooming at Night.

Undercover High School: Plot and teaser

Reportedly, the story begins with a major incident during an operation that results in the demotion of Jung Hae-sung (played by Seo Kang-joon), a top agent of the National Intelligence Service (NIS).

Assigned to a covert mission, he goes undercover as a student at the prestigious Byeongmoon High School, where he soon meets his homeroom teacher, Oh Soo-ah (portrayed by Jin Ki-joo).

Dedicated and deeply caring for her students, Soo-ah begins to notice striking similarities between Hae-sung and her childhood first love, who left her heartbroken with bitter memories.

This sets the stage for a complicated relationship between the two, potentially weaving tension-filled romance and suspense, as Hae-sung’s secret mission adds further intrigue to their evolving dynamic.

In the teaser, one can see Kang-joon on the top of a car, hitting it with another object. This fearless agent joins a school as a student. Here, he meets Jin Ki-joo. The drama also seemingly promises humorous bits as Kang-joon struggles to keep his appearance as a student as well as continue his mission.

Who plays who in Undercover High School?

Jeon Bae-soo plays Ahn Seok-ho, the team leader of the NIS’s domestic operations. Warm and fatherly, Seok-ho is a mentor to Jung Hae-sung (Seo Kang-joon) and dedicates himself to protecting him, stepping in for a senior who mysteriously vanished. His unwavering support empowers Hae-sung throughout the mission.

Yoon Gai takes on the role of Park Mi-jung, a senior NIS agent skilled in document forgery and hacking. Sharp and composed, Mi-jung brings both humor and efficiency to the team, often engaging in witty banter with her fellow agents.

Cho Bok-rae portrays Ko Young-hoon, a passionate and loyal NIS junior who deeply admires Hae-sung. Disguised as Hae-sung’s uncle, Young-hoon supports his infiltration efforts with boundless energy.

Lee Seo-hwan, who has recently gained attention for his role in Squid Game 2, plays Kim Hyung-bae, the head of the NIS domestic division. Known for his fiery temper and unpredictable nature, Hyung-bae leads the Undercover High School operation but remains an enigmatic figure whose true allegiance is unclear.

Undercover High School, one of the anticipated dramas of early 2025, premieres this February.
