On October 30, 2024, the K-pop band BTS emerged as the best-selling South Korean musical act, recording over 40.2 million album sales, as per the Circle Chart. The information sent the fandom ARMYs into a frenzy. For those unversed, the group has released nine albums, seven compilation albums, and six extended plays. They continued to dominate the music industry internationally and domestically with their albums.

According to Sports Kyunghyang, the group exceeded 10 million albums sold. It set the record for reaching the milestone in the shortest five and half years among all the Korean acts that have debuted since 2000. Subsequently, the group's latest milestone of surpassing 40.2 million album sales and emerging as the best-selling band in South Korea circulated on social media. The fandom could not contain their excitement and an X user tweeted with enthusiasm:

"Unrivaled icons. They will beat everyone in the entertainment industry."

The fandom ARMYs bragged about how the band continued to have a lasting impact in the entertainment industry after two years of hiatus.

"I say this again and again. BTS is unbeatable even after 2+ years of group hiatus!" A fan reacted.
"the fact that no kpop album has reached the impact MOTS 7 had after 4 years despite these "next bts" groups releasing 3 albums per year," a fan shared.

Many fans also stated that the group would reunite next year and make a strong comeback.

More about BTS

The band features seven members, including Kim Seok-jin, Min Yoongi, j-hope, Kim Namjoon, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, and Jeon Jungkook. They were formed in 2010 and debuted under BigHit Entertainment in 2013 with their album 2 Cool 4 Skool. They unveiled their second Korean studio album, Wings, in 2016, which recorded one million copies in the country.

The septet has an impressive discography, including Dark & Wild, Wings, Love Yourself: Tear, Map of the Soul: 7, Be, Youth, Face Yourself, and others. On June 14, 2024, the band announced a hiatus on group activities to complete their mandatory military service.


In recent news, Jin and j-hope were discharged from mandatory military service on June 12 and October 17, 2024, respectively. The group would reportedly reunite in 2025 following the conclusion of their service.
