KQ Entertainment announced on August 8, 2024, that ATEEZ is set to release WORK Pt.4 featuring G-Eazy. The single will be released on August 9, however, fans of the K-pop group were disappointed over the featured artist.
Gerald Earl Gillum, who is known by his stage name G-Eazy, is an American rapper and record producer under RCA Records. He is popular for his song Him & I with Halsey among various others.
Notably, Halsey and G-Eazy dated for a year before splitting in 2018. She then released Without Me and fans speculated that the song heavily hinted at G-Eazy cheating on her. Since then G-Eazy faced criticism from fans worldwide, especially after Halsey posted on Instagram in a netizen's comment in 2020, and wrote,
"I hope to God you never have to experience an abusive relationship. And if you do, I hope the world is kinder to you than you are to me," she said.
Meanwhile, after KQ Entertainment dropped the announcement of ATEEZ's collaboration with G-Eazy on August 8, 2024, the group's fans were dismayed. One ATINY (ATEEZ's official fandom name) wrote on X,
"Was literally no one else available. And I mean literally anyone else"
ATINY shared their views online and took X (formerly Twitter) by storm and underscored G-Eazy's alleged abusive relationship in the past.
"I feel like a Latin artist would’ve fit the vibe better. Like bad bunny.. or anyone besides Gerald," one fan wrote.
"They didn’t have anyone else’s number," another said.
"Not that man.. he is a problematic guy.. a s**ual abuser.. I hate this collab, sorry," one other fan added.
Others highlighted how this is the "worst collaboration" the popular K-pop group has gone for.
"Ateez we love you, but we don't want it," another commented.
"Genuinely truly fully wholeheartedly the worst collaboration they could’ve done," one fan stated.
"This is a joke right……." another wrote.
