BTS' Jin's value for artistic sincerity: A look into his cover story in Harper's Bazaar Korea X Gucci's September issue
BTS' Jin was made the Global Brand Ambassador for the Italian premium fashion brand Gucci on August 7 this year. In a warm welcome note, the Creative Director of the label, Sabato De Sarno, praised the K-pop phenomenon's "warm and kind personality" and unique fashion sense.
For the Harper's Bazaar Korea pictorial, Jin is dressed to the nines in Gucci's Men's New Fall/Winter 2024 Collection by the Creative Director himself.
From the newly released 'Icon, Jin' clips, the first showcases the idol in producer mode. He is playing a keyboard, and standing among large speakers. The caption titled #Producer included the BTS vocalist talking about his creative process behind working on a solo song,
"When working on a solo song, I tend to start with thoughts like 'This would be fun to try' or 'This would suit me well.' In a way, I don’t want to be obvious about it, but I believe I write songs with the mindset that I can somehow express those emotions that inevitably show through. I'm not sure if my sincerity comes across 100%, though. (laughs)"
In the second video in black and white named #Audience, BTS' Jin speaks about the unchanging love between the septet and ARMYs, voicing his heartfelt gratitude to fans who have been there all along,
"There’s a saying that even rivers and mountains change in ten years, but it’s amazing how the love between BTS and ARMY does not change. I think this relationship is maintained thanks to the unwavering love that ARMY has given us over a long period of time. I want to take this opportunity to once again express my gratitude and love."
The third segment featuring the 31-year-old is themed #Performer. It shows him playing drums, a Gibson 80s Flying V electric guitar, and posing with mics, embodying the "#Rock Jin" concept the idol explored for the first time with this cover story. For this, the caption read,
"Some feelings, no matter how hard you try to suppress them, inevitably come out like a sneeze. We sometimes call that 'sincerity.' In other words, Jin seems like someone who doesn’t sing unless it comes from the heart."
On August 13, when Jin was announced to be the face of three separate covers for Harper's Bazaar Korea's September edition, the magazine further introduced a poll through which fans could pick whichever cover they liked best. The winning cover would go on to be the representative image on Bazaar's various channels.
The first candidate cover titled "#Rock Jin's new look" with Jin holding the Gibson 80s Flying V electric guitar won the poll, while fans were also asked to look forward to a special "inside cover."
Meanwhile, the usually confident Jin had mentioned during a Bazaar interview, about feeling worried while filming for the rock concept, further expressing how his synergy with Gucci and the encouraging atmosphere on set helped the shoot. Fans cannot wait to see the results and learn the idol's story in the September issue.
In other news, BTS' Jin's appearance on MBC's Half-Star Hotel in Lost Island is currently being much talked about.
The episode involves the idol in the role of an island worker, helping at a 0.5-star hotel where he has to go fishing with the cast members, deal with the smell of mackerel, build, cook, and more. It came out on August 19 at 9 PM KST. Viewers can watch it on MBC's official website, Wavve, Kocowa, and Apple TV.
