"We already planned this drama with Seasons 2 & 3 in mind"- The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call writer seemingly teases show renewal amid fan anticipation

The writer of Trauma Center: Golden Hour, the web novel on which Netflix's latest medical drama series The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call is based, teased about season 2 of the show during an interview on his channel Doctor Friends. The interview was posted on January 23, 2025.

During the interview, Dr. Lee and his guests began discussing the drama and how Netflix picking it up was a big deal. Dr. Oh asked Dr. Lee if he would reap any benefits from the show. To this, Dr. Lee responded that season 1 of the show did not cover the entire story. He also claimed that the show was written with seasons 2 and 3 in mind.

No sooner had Dr. Lee's interview gone viral than the comments began pouring in, with many fans supporting the show and anticipating a season 2. Fans expressed their excitement for more stories about Dr. Baek and his team via tweets on X. Here's what they had to say:

"I need everyone to watch this show immediately. We cannot give Netflix any excuse to cancel another great show," said one.
"Season 2 & 3 is a must," wrote another fan.
"oooohhh it's a win, we need the date asap," commented a fan.

During an interview with SBS Radio on January 21, 2025, the lead cast of The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call asked fans to shower love on season 1 of the show if they wanted to see more seasons in the future. Sharing a snippet from the interview, one user took to X to urge fellow netizens to watch the show.

"YALL SHOULD HYPE #TheTraumaCodeHeroesonCall!!" said the user.

Another fan, having watched season 1 of the show, expressed how its eight episodes are not enough.

"This drama is so good 8 episodes isn't enough... give us S2 now," they said.
"omg we're so ready for season two. and we really need season two," said another.

What is the plot of The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call?

The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call is a medical thriller drama is based on the webtoon Trauma Center: Golden Hour by Hansanleega aka Dr. Lee Nak-joon. The drama focuses on Baek Gang Hyeok, played by Ju Ji-hoon, an experienced trauma surgeon who leads the severe trauma team at the university hospital. The official synopsis of the show reads:

"To create a top-tier trauma center, a war-seasoned doctor arrives — bringing his blunt but skilled ways to transform his team into life-saving mavericks."

Choo Young-woo, Ha Young, Yoon Gyunh-ho and Jeong Jae-kwang play pivotal roles in the drama. The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call was released on Netflix on Friday, January 24, 2025, with eight episodes in total. Upon its release, the drama climbed into the Top 10 trending titles on Netflix.

The drama comes shortly after Ju Ji-hoon stars in the romantic comedy Love Your Enemy alongside Jung Yu-mi, and the horror-thriller Light Shop alongside Park Bo-young. The actor has been going viral on social media for the back-to-back performances coming from a variety of roles.
