However, the management company has recently confirmed a reunion project with the group through an official statement. Fans are highly excited as this will be the group's first project together in three years.

According to My Daily's report on September 24, Source Music stated,

“Next January, GFRIEND will be meeting fans with a project to celebrate their 10th debut anniversary. This project came to fruition thanks to the members' wishes to give Buddies a precious memory. We ask for your great anticipation and support.”

Where are GFRIEND members now? More about the six-member girl group

GFRIEND is a six-member girl group that debuted under Source Music in January 2015 with their mini album Season of Glass with the title track Glass Bead. The six members include leader Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and the maknae Umji. The group garnered attention for their vocals and choreography synchronization.

The K-pop group left their musical impression on fans with popular hits like Me Gustas Tu, Rough, NAVILLERA, MAGO, and more. In May 2021, Source Music made a sudden announcement regarding the disbandment and the conclusion of their group activities under the agency stating that their exclusive contract expired and the members along with Source Music mutually decided not to sign another contract.

Following the group's disbandment Sowon changed her stage name to Kim Sowon to pursue a career in acting signing with IOK Entertainment in 2022. This year, she signed an exclusive contract with OUI Entertainment for her further pursuits. Meanwhile, Yerin and Yuju started promoting as solo artists under different agencies.

The remaining group members including Eunha, SinB, and Umji announced to make a trio group of themselves and named it VIVIZ. The trio has been since releasing songs like BOP BOP!, PULL UP, MANIAC, and more.

Despite parting ways, the girls have been seen celebrating group anniversaries through their social media showcasing their evergrowing bond. Moreover, in June 2024, Kim Sowon appeared on hairdresser Lee Seung-hyu’s YouTube show and opened up about the disbandment of the group.

When Lee Seung-hyu asked Kim Sowon about a comeback from the group and also asked why many fans wondered why they disbandment she responded:

“But we didn't.”

She further explained that it was a contract termination with the agency. Kim Sowon stated that the girls are close to each other and often meet up for meals.

In January 2025, GFRIEND will be seen together officially for a project commemorating their 10th debut anniversary. Further details of their reunion have not been disclosed by Source Music yet.
