Im Si-wan cast for Kill Boksoon Spin-off, Mantis
Im Si-wan is a South Korean actor and singer known for his roles in television dramas and films. He first gained fame as a member of the K-pop group ZE: A. His breakout role came with the historical drama The Moon Embracing the Sun. Following this, he became known for his leading role in the workplace drama Misaeng: Incomplete Life.
His performance as a young employee navigating office life resonated widely and earned him praise for his authenticity. He continued to take on diverse roles, including in The Merciless, where he portrayed a conflicted undercover cop, and in the drama Run On, playing a national sprinter.
Netflix announced on September 2 that Im Si-wan will be seen in Mantis, a spin-off of the film Kill Boksoon. Joining him will be Park Gyu-young and Jo Woo-jin. The action-packed film follows the story of a top-tier assassin, known as Mantis, who returns from vacation only to find himself amid a chaotic power struggle within the hitman industry.
As he navigates this volatile scene, Mantis faces Jae-yi, his rival and fellow trainee, as well as Dok-go, a legendary killer who stepped back from the game. Each of these fierce assassins is now in a ruthless battle to claim the No. 1 spot in the industry.
Im Si-wan plays Han Ui, also known as Mantis, an elite assassin working for MK Entertainment. His character was first referenced by Cha Min-kyu (played by Sol Kyung-gu), the head of MK Ent., in Kill Boksoon, where he mentions to Gil Bok-soon that Mantis was on vacation.
