On September 26, 2024, SM Entertainment confirmed that NCT's Jaehyun is set to enlist in the military on November 4. Taking to the DearU Bubble app, the K-pop idol penned a heartfelt message for his fans addressing the latest news. He expressed how his job as an idol allowed him to meet NCTzens (the official name of NCT fans).
"Have you been well? You must be surprised at the sudden news, but I will enlist in the military in November. I want to express my feelings to NCTzens shortly. If it weren’t for this job, I would have never been able to experience the precious memories with fans, our precious relationship, and the size of love, and I am grateful for it once again," he wrote.

Jaehyun continued assuring his fans that he would diligently complete his mandatory military service and return safely.
"I’ve always gone at my own pace, and I am so thankful and love all of you who have always trusted and walked by my side. Although I say that I will be back quickly and wait just a little bit, I will surely miss you all.[...] I will continue to work hard as I look back on our memories and anticipate the future that is to come. SM Entertainment announces NCT's Jaehyun's military enlistment date on Weverse
SM Entertainment announced on Weverse about the K-pop idol's upcoming military enlistment, stating there would be no public event to protect the privacy and safety of soldiers and recruits. Sports Chosun reported that on September 26, Jaehyun received an acceptance notification from the Military Manpower Administration for the Army Band. Fans were asked not to visit the training camp to prevent overcrowding.
"NCT’s Jaehyun applied to join the military band, and today he received his notice of acceptance from the Military Manpower Administration. Therefore, he will join the military on November 4 and fulfill his mandatory service. [...] There will be no separate event to prevent any accidents caused by crowding at the venue."
Jaehyun debuted as a member of NCT 127, NCT U, and NCT Do Jaejung in 2016. He released his first studio album J, on August 26, 2024, which includes Flamin' Hot Lemon, Smoke, Roses, Dandelion, Completely, Easy, Can't Get You, and Smoke (English version).
He first performed the album's pre-release track, Dandelion, with the American musician, Lauv, at the 2024 Seoul Jazz Festival before the album's official release. The album debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard Japan Hot Albums Chart.
