On January 2, Creative Artists Agency, representing Lee Jung-jae, dismissed rumors about his involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). MCU).nuary. Speculation arose after the X account MyTimeToShine and media outlet Comicbookmovie.com reported that Lee Jung-jae had been approached by Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios.

However, no storyline or character details were disclosed.

"We have not received any offers," stated Jung-jae's agency.

Feige allegedly expressed interest in working with the actor. However, on January 2, his agency clarified that no offers had been made.


Lee Jung-jae and MCU rumors

Lee Jung-jae and MCU rumors go way back. Last year, he was speculated to be in talks to play the Spider-Man villain Mr. Negative, but the rumors eventually faded without confirmation.

Similarly, in 2022, RPK editor Daniel Richman suggested on social media that the actor was being considered for an MCU role.

He was also rumored to be cast as the main antagonist in Shang-Chi 2. However, his agency refrained from providing a definitive statement at the time, simply stating that they could not reveal any position yet.


Lee Jung-jae is one of the most popular actors in South Korea

Widely regarded as one of South Korea's most accomplished actors, Lee Jung-jae has earned numerous prestigious awards throughout his career, including a Primetime Emmy, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a Critics' Choice Television Award, and six Baeksang Arts Awards.

He has also received nominations for a Golden Globe and a Gotham Award.

In 2021, Lee achieved global recognition for his portrayal of Seong Gi-hun, the lead character in Netflix's survival drama Squid Game.

His performance in the first season earned him multiple accolades, including nominations for the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series and the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Series – Drama.

As for his upcoming projects, Jung-jae is in talks for the upcoming drama, Petty Love. On November 20, Star Today and OSEN reported that Lee Jung-jae and Lim Ji-yeon had been offered lead roles in the upcoming drama Petty Love.

In response to the reports, both actors’ agency, Artist Company, stated that the two had received offers for the project and were currently reviewing them.

The production company, Studio &NEW, also confirmed that offers had been extended to the actors, adding that the project is still pre-production.

Petty Love explores the complex love-hate dynamic between a seasoned detective actor hoping to transition into romantic dramas and a former award-winning political journalist who is relegated to the entertainment desk.

The series is written by Jung Yeo Rang, known for Doctor Cha, and directed by Kim Ga-ram, who previously worked on Good Partner.

The actor has been offered the role of Im Hyun-joon, a renowned actor celebrated for his detective roles, but who aspires to become the "prince of romantic comedies."
