On Wednesday, August 28, it was announced that NCT Jaehyun's upcoming solo fan meet will be rescheduled following the land of Taeil's sexual crime allegations and departure from NCT revelations. Following the release of Jaehyun's debut solo album, J, on August 26, the K-pop idol scheduled a fansign event on August 29. This event was arranged to celebrate the idol's latest solo release.
However, in light of the recent news regarding Taeil's sexual crime allegations and his subsequent departure from NCT, the event was announced to be postponed. Shortly after the announcement about Taeil, the organizer, Soundwave of the fansign event released their statement to the attendees declaring a postponement. Here's what the statement read:
"The fan signing event for Jaehyun (JAEHYUN) – 1st Album [J] (J Ver.), which was scheduled to take place on August 29th, has been temporarily postponed due to unavoidable circumstances. When a new date is confirmed, we will notify the selected participants individually. We sincerely ask for your understanding."
However, details regarding the postponed date and other details regarding the fansign event were not revealed in the statement.
All you need to know about Taeil's sexual crime allegations and departure from NCT
On August 28, SM Entertainment released a statement announcing that Taeil has been sued for sexual crime. After the agency gathered more facts and information regarding the case, they sat down with the idol for consultation. Therefore, a decision was made for the idol to depart NCT. Following the announcement, several netizens were shocked and disappointed by the idol's actions.
However, the nature of the sexual crime and what the idol was exactly sued for are yet to be revealed. Though the idol has departed NCT, his exclusive contract with SM Entertainment has not been terminated as of yet, according to the Seoul-based South Korean media outlet, JoongAng Daily. Here's the statement released by SM Entertainment regarding Taeil's allegations and departure:
"This is SM Entertainment. We have recently learned that Taeil has been charged with a criminal case related to sexual offenses. As we gathered the facts, we realized the seriousness of the case and decided that he could no longer continue to be a part of the team, and in consultation with the idol, he has decided to leave the team."
The statement further stated that the idol is currently cooperating fully with the investigation. Additionally, the entertainment agency apologized on behalf of the artist and shared that they would provide further information on the matter with the progression of the investigation.
On the other hand, the official accounts of SM Entertainment, NCT and NCT 127 have unfollowed the idol on his personal Instagram. Soon, all his fellow NCT members, such as Winwin, Jungwoo, Taeyong, Mark, Johnny, and Chenle, also unfollowed the idol.
In light of the news, several fan accounts and NCTzens have also been deleting content related to the idol while actively criticizing his actions and expressing their disappointment over the idol. On the other hand, with regard to the case's investigations, the Bangbae Police Station commented that the case is still under investigation and that they've only discovered potential sexual crimes as of now.
