On Wednesday, January 15, SHINee Taemin's agency, BPM Entertainment, released a statement in response to alleged rumors surrounding the idol's participation in his K-pop boy group. He departed SM Entertainment last March following the contract's expiration with his agency.
Along with Onew's departure from SM Entertainment, SHINee is now left with two members, Key and Minho, who are housed under the group's parent company, SM Entertainment. Following the same, several people have been skeptical about the group's future. These rumors specifically started to swirl after SM Entertainment cancelled or shifted around many recent SHINee releases.
Some of these schedules include the group's winter single release, their upcoming mini-album, and the members' participation in the concert series SMTOWN LIVE 2025. Given that these schedules have been cancelled, fans have been anxious if it's due to the members currently being housed under different agencies.
Therefore, to clarify Taemin's status on the ongoing rumors regarding his participation in SHINee's activities, BPM Entertainment released the statement. They also issued a warning against people who spread malicious rumors about the idol.
"We are aware that some communities and social media posts have expressed concerns regarding Taemin activities with SHINee, and we would like to clarify our position. All of the content posted on social media recently contains clear falsehoods, and we will take a strong stance against them."

Their statement concluded with them affirming their full support towards Taemin's schedules and activities as a SHINee member.
"We will continue to actively support the idol so that he can continue to shine as a solo artist and as a member of SHINee, and we will strive to protect the artist so that he can grow into an even bigger artist. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all of our fans who have always shown Taemin great love and interest."
The idol left SM Entertainment in March 2024. While SM Entertainment released an official statement about his departure from the agency due to the contract expiration, Taemin personally explained his reasons behind the same. He took to his Bubble account to write a message to his fans on the same.
He stated that he had made the decision about his departure the previous year and also spoke about this to the other members of SHINee. He also mentioned that his intention was to smoothly announce his departure without causing concern to fans.
Additionally, he also expressed his gratitude for his long-time label and those who supported and helped him in his career thus far. Conclusively, he affirmed that he will continue to be a member of SHINee despite the label change and asked fans and netizens to continue their support for his activities and career.
