On Thursday, November 7, 2024, GOT7's Jinyoung was discharged from his military service, where he served in the 11th Mobile Division of the Republic of Korea Army. His bandmates, Yugyeom and BamBam, arrived outside the military camp to welcome him back to civilian life.
BamBam even posted two stories on his Instagram account, tagging the You Calling My Name singer and captioning it,
"Welcome back to the annoying world of maknae."
The singer was also seen hugging his mother after stepping out of the military camp and giving her his dog tag. For the unversed, a "dog tag" describes a particular style of military identification tag that soldiers wear during their service.
RNX TV Korea reported GOT7's Jinyoung announcing the group's comeback in 2025 during the news outlet's YouTube live-streaming from the military discharge. Later, while driving back from the military camp with BamBam and Yugyeom, Jinyoung revealed that GOT7 will release its comeback album in 2025 on his Instagram Live.
"We’re gonna release our Got7’s album next year… maybe early next year.”
Fans were thrilled to see him return to civilian life and were excited to hear the NANANA group's forthcoming album release.
"Hyungs - What Album, What grp chat. Maknaes - WE HAVE A SONG PREPARED, ALBUM COMING SOON!! Welcome back SPOILER7! You have been missed," one fan tweeted.
Fans mentioned how the singer's military comrades hugged him as he bid farewell. Others noted how Yugyeom and BamBam ran towards him and jumped on him to hug the singer during his discharge.
"They seems like Jinyoung’s fellow soldiers, he said that for the past 1,5 years together with good friends it was really fun, and that he’s thankful for them and that he loves them..And like, look at how they adore each other, so heartwarming," one fan said.
"Freshly out of the military looking a whole new level of ethereal on an instagram live. only park jinyoung." another fan added.
"The maknae’s came.. the way Bambam and Yugyeom came running to hug Jinyoung!!" one other fan stated.
Several fans joked about how, during his military farewell address, Jinyoung wasted no time revealing a spoiler about the release of the group's album in front of reporters.
"Jinyoung teasing yugyeom with aomg sign and yugyeom did the bh sign lmaoo we are so back," one fan wrote.
"Mark being excited “Jinyoung is out” to trying to silence him and pretend he doesn’t know anything about the album … too late Mark Jinyoung already spoiled it," another fan remarked.
