On January 19, 2025, BTS member Kim Taehyung, professionally known as V, shared an Instagram story where he informed fans about completing his cold weather training in the military with the South Korean military's 2nd Corps. In the story, he wrote:

"End of extreme cold weather (training)"

This training was conducted from January 6 to January 17, 2025, in regions including Chuncheon, Hwacheon, and Hongcheon, exposing soldiers to temperatures dropping to minus 20 degrees Celsius. The primary objective was to enhance combat readiness and resilience under harsh winter conditions.

For the unversed, extreme cold weather training in the South Korean military is designed to test and improve soldiers' endurance, survival skills, and teamwork in sub-zero environments. During this period, soldiers engage in various exercises such as skiing with full gear, constructing shelters in snow-covered terrains, and performing tactical maneuvers.

These activities ensure military personnel can operate effectively, even in the most challenging weather conditions. Meanwhile, Taehyung enlisted for his mandatory military service on December 12, 2023, and serves as a Special Duty Team (SDT) member under the 2nd Army Corps.

The SDT is a specialized unit within the South Korean military police, trained for counter-terrorism, reconnaissance, and high-risk operations. Their training regimen is intense, preparing soldiers for diverse and challenging missions.

Throughout the extreme cold weather training, fans, collectively known as ARMY, expressed their support and concern for Taehyung. Social media platforms were flooded with messages wishing for his safety and well-being. On January 19, 2025, after seeing the BTS idol's Instagram story, one fan commented,

"WELCOME BACK KIM TAEHYUNG"

Fans cheered upon the return of the Layover singer's safe return from the intense cold training.

"Glad he made it well through this," one fan wrote.
"I hope he is healthy and happy. He went through a really hard training," another fan wrote.
"Please get your well-deserved rest. You worked so hard." one other fan added.

Others hoped that he would take time to rest now properly.

"That must have been a tough training. I hope he gets some rest now," a fan responded.
"So proud of you! Hope you have a good rest after your difficult training in the cold weather. We miss you so much," another fan added.
"You made it captain! now take a rest warm hugssss!!!!" one other fan said.

More about BTS' Kim Taehyung's ongoing military enlistment

After completing basic training at the Nonsan Training Center, Taehyung underwent specialized instruction to join the SDT. This unit operates under the 2nd Army Corps headquarters in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do Province.

The extreme cold weather training tests physical endurance and mental resilience. Soldiers are trained to perform tactical operations, such as abseiling from helicopters and engaging in hand-to-hand combat, all while battling freezing conditions. These exercises are designed to simulate real-life scenarios, ensuring that the troops are prepared for any situation.

As Taehyung continues his service, he is expected to be discharged on June 10, 2025, alongside fellow BTS member RM, who enlisted simultaneously. Fans anticipate the completion of members' military service, as it will mark the reunion of all seven BTS members, who have been on hiatus since 2022.

In other news, he released WINTER AHEAD in December 2024 with Park Hyo-shin.
