K-pop group MONSTA X is on a brief hiatus due to the members' ongoing military enlistment

MONSTA X debuted with their EP Trespass on May 14, 2015, with originally seven members: Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Joohoney, and I.M. The group was formed through a reality talent program No.Mercy under Starship Entertainment. However, in October 2019, Wonho terminated his contract and left the boy group.

Notably, the 4th-generation boy band headlined the We Bridge Music Festival & Expo on April 21, 2023, which took place at the Michelob Ultra Arena at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Before that, Minhyuk enrolled as an active duty soldier on April 4, 2023, in order to fulfill his mandatory military service.

Minhyuk and Shownu weren't able to join the group at the We Bridge Music Festival & Expo due to their enlistment. However, on the same day (April 21, 2023), Shownu was discharged after fulfilling his mandatory military service.

On July 24, 2023, Joohoney enlisted, followed by Kihyun's enlistment in August and Hyungwon's enlistment in November 2023.
