Akdong Club member, Lee Tae-geun, reportedly passed away on September 4, at the age of 41. According to Maeil Business News, Lee Tae-geun received his third dosage of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination three years ago on December 16, 2021, and had serious adverse effects.
After taking the vaccine, he started experiencing headaches and vomiting, which resulted in his immediate hospitalization. Following this, he suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage and was taken to the intensive care unit (ICU). He also sought blood donation and had been in a coma for three years since December 2021.
On September 6, 2024, he was buried in North Chungcheong Province's Eumseong County in the columbarium at Yaeun Memorial Park, South Korea. SPOTV News reported on September 6, that the late singer's wife mentioned his labored breathing and critical conditions.
"My husband is in critical condition in the intensive care unit. He has lost more than 20kg (adult male height 178cm, weight less than 45kg) and is in the worst physical condition with only bones left. He can barely breathe," she said.
Famous South Korean singer Lee Tae-geun reportedly dies due to the side effects of a COVID-19 vaccine
According to reports, the late Lee Tae-geun was not compensated for his condition since there was no proof that the vaccination caused the subarachnoid hemorrhage. His wife stated that the doctors failed to explain the cause of Lee Tae-geun's hemorrhage and said,
"The doctor explained that subarachnoid hemorrhage usually occurs due to trauma, but in my husband's case, the bleeding was of unknown origin and there was no clear treatment plan. It's frustrating that they can't explain the causal relationship between the vaccine and these symptoms."
She added that despite being in a coma for three years, the singer would suffer seizures where his eyeballs would roll back to his head and the doctors kept prescribing him painkillers. She said,
"Due to severe headaches, he would sweat every two days, his whole body would stiffen, his fingers and wrists would twist, and his eyeballs would roll up. These symptoms lasted for 10 minutes. My husband's consciousness is becoming increasingly unclear, and all they do is give him painkillers, sedatives and Tylenol."
