“What kind of story are we gonna get?” — Fans react as BTS’ Taehyung & Park Hyo-shin’s ‘WINTER AHEAD’ MV is reported to have a six-minute run time

On November 24, 2024, HYBE Labels dropped the official teaser of BTS' Taehyung's upcoming music video on his duet with Park Hyo-shin, Winter Ahead. The teaser stirred the internet as fans were stunned to see the BTS member embracing several avatars in the teaser.

However, an X account (@Romantic_Tae) shared some screenshots from Park Hyo-shin's Marketing Director's personal blog, where the official claimed that the upcoming MV would be six minutes long. The Marketing Director was allegedly in-charge of sending out the "V X Park Hyo Shin's'' teasers and music video at Shinsegae Square" notice.

In his blog (name withheld), the official stated:

"We didn't have a lot of preparation time, so we set a range that both companies could implement and cooperated as much as possible. Now all we have to do is adjust the final details.[...] It's a six-minute-long music video, and I'm looking forward to how it'll turn out. I hope many people will have a happy winter while watching the music video."

The X account (@Romantic_Tae) shared the screenshots of the conversation from his personal blog which went viral online. Excitement ran amuck within the BTS fanbase, as the revelation heightened their anticipation. One fan wrote on X:

"6 minutes??! Omg what kind of story are we gonna get? Oh I'm so excited"

The BTS ARMY mentioned that a six-minute-long music video is "literally" a short movie.

"Wait, if Winter Ahead Official MV really gonna be 6 minutes long, then we literally gonna get a short movie," one fan wrote.

"SIX MINUTES ????? BABY THATS A SHORT FILM!! DA HELL IS GOING DOWN IN THAT VIDEO ????" another fan wrote.

"Guys the mv isn't even out yet, the teaser itself has me gagged???? jaws are on the floor and you're telling me we are going to get a 6MINS LONG MV??? THAT'S A WHOLE MOVIE," one other fan said.

While others said that it should be released in the theatres for best "VISUAL EXCELLENCE."

"But as someone who would love doing music and music videos that are like short movies, it makes me so happy to read that taehyung mv is gonna be six minutes + from what I’m seeing I KNOW I’m gonna love it," one fan commented.

"It's six minutes long ??? I don't want to watch it alone like they need to release it in theatres," another fan stated.

"I was so calm for winter ahead before, but then boom. AND IT'S GONNA BE 6 MINUTES! LIKE MINI FILM FULL OF VISUAL EXCELLENCE," one other fan emphasized.

BTS' Taehyung drops Winter Ahead music video official teaser

The new digital song Winter Ahead, starring vocalist Park Hyo-shin and BTS' Kim Taehyung, was dropped by BIGHIT MUSIC (now HYBE Labels) on November 24, 2024, showcasing a montage filled with the BTS idols. Although the BTS sensation has been serving in the South Korean military since December 11, 2023, and will return in June 2025, the MV was one of his pre-filmed projects.

Meanwhile, fans observed that several scenes from the Winter Ahead MV were similar to Taehyung's photos, which he shared before his military enlistment. One shot particularly showed Taehyung wearing a black fur coat, which was similar to the black-and-white photo he posted on Instagram on December 10, 2023.

The Layover singer-songwriter is seen lying on his bed, bare-chested, in the opening scene of the teaser, hinting at him remembering his former life, sculpting a sculpture. Following the opening scene, Taehyung wakes up and washes his face when he gets flashbacks of a distant life where he was onstage, dancing and merry-making.
