BTS' Suga's driving under the influence on an e-scooter case to reportedly closed with a summary indictment by the prosecutors. On Tuesday, September 10, Dispatch, a South Korean media agency reported that the prosecutors had filed a summary indictment against the BTS rapper for drunken driving on the charges of violating the Road Traffic Act.
Previously, on August 6, Suga was confirmed to be drunk driving on an electric scooter/kickboard by the Police in the Yongsan area. On September 10, Chief Prosecutor Chu Hye-yoon of the 2nd Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office, Criminal Division reportedly stated,
"We have filed a summary indictment against Suga."
Following the report, summary indictment is a process where the prosecutors hold hearings in written format instead of a court trial. Through this process, the prosecutors rule on penalties or monetary fines for the offender. According to Dispatch, the specifics and details of Suga's written hearing have reportedly not been disclosed publicly.

On the night of August 6, Suga was drunk driving on an electric scooter in the Yongsan area of Seoul. He fell on the footpath of Nine One Hannam while driving the scooter. He was assisted by the police patrolling the area who conducted a breathalyzer test. The alcohol content in his blood was reportedly 0.227 percent at the time of the incident.
According to South Korean Traffic rules, the driving license revocation percentage is set at 0.08 percent, which was reportedly exceeded in the BTS member's case. Offenders with a blood alcohol content level of 0.2 percent or more may be sentenced to prison for not less than two years but not more than five years. Another penalty for the same is a fine of a minimum of 10 million KRW and a maximum of 20 million KRW.
On August 7, BIGHIT MUSIC confirmed the incident through an official statement and Suga also made a formal apology through a Weverse post admitting the same.
On August 23, the Haegum singer was summoned by the Yongn Police Station for interrogation about the case and reportedly the session was held for three hours. Following the police questioning, Suga faced the reporters on-site waiting outside the precinct.
He formally apologized to the public for causing trouble and stated that he was reflecting on his actions.
"I would like to say that I am truly sorry for causing so much hurt and disappointment with my wrongdoing. I deeply reflect and regret it. I will make sure that something like this never happens again. I would like to say that I am truly sorry to all the people who have loved me," the idol shared.
On August 25, the Seesaw singer issued another apology through a handwritten letter on Weverse. He also apologized to the BTS members and his staff. He said,
"Because of this incident, I have left a significant stain on the precious memories I have made with the members and fans and have brought disgrace to the name of BTS. I am deeply sorry and inexpressibly pained for having caused harm to the members and the team."
Previously, an error in his post on August 7 regarding the type of electric scooter he used created confusion. The idol acknowledged writing the letter hastily and apologized for the same.
