The four-minute and fifty-three-second music video featured the female artist donning a casual black dress with her hair cascading down the shoulders.

Aftertaste marked the K-pop idol's first release as an independent soloist since she left the label, THE L1VE. It is the fourth song from the songwriter and producer Shim Hyun-bo's 25th project. Through the third digital single album, Whee In wanted to convey the message of complex love, uncoupling, and the aftermath of separation.

Subsequently, the K-pop fandom praised the female artist's vocals and visuals in the Aftertaste music video. An X user tweeted:

"Wheein’s vocals are the best for me"

"Ballad Wheein something that will never go wrong,"- a fan reacted.
"The return of 5-minute songs Thank you wina for reviving this classic!!"- a fan shared.
"I'm not even exaggerating but this song is SO beautiful. It has tht bittersweet melody just like the name. And the vocal techniques Wheein applied here r even more beautiful. I wonder if she's going to training sessions like she mentioned. Thank you Jung Wheein for this song,"- a fan commented.

Internet users mentioned that the track's lyrics were painful and the female artist made it more emotional.

"I love this Wheein!! I hope you sing more songs like this. Your ballad music is my comfort,"- a user shared.
