On December 2, BTS' Taehyung disclosed the passing of his dog, Yeontan. The news of Taehyung’s pet dog’s passing came out when the BTS member posted a bunch of pictures on his Instagram account, along with several stories dedicated to his pet.

Kim Taehyung's black-and-tan Pomeranian was first introduced to ARMYs on December 4, 2017, during Kim Seokjin’s birthday livestream. Since then, his pet had been part of the group’s numerous live broadcasts, their film BTS: Burn The Stage, photoshoots, and various events. Yeontan was a charming and small dog, closely bonded with all the members of BTS, as seen in their live streams.

Yeontan, aka Tan, also served as the cover art for V's debut solo album, Layover. Tan was featured throughout the physical CD of Layover, and ARMYs humorously remarked that Tan had finally made his debut as the K-Pop idol. Taehyung dedicated his first solo album to his dog.

BTS' Taehyung shared a heartfelt note about Yeontan on Instagram

Kim Taehyung announced Tan's passing to ARMYs via Instagram. He wrote a letter in his Instagram story, mentioning his recent tracks, and disclosed that BTS’ Taehyung lost his beloved dog. He urged ARMYs to commemorate his pet as he began his journey to the stars. The idol wrote:

“The reason I decided to post this message today is because, recently, Yeontan (my dog) embarked on a long journey to the stars. I thought a lot about how to share this news with you, but I felt that it was right to let ARMYs, who have sent so much love to Yeontan, know, so I’m sharing this news now. I believe Yeontan would feel happy if ARMYs also remember him fondly as he sets off on this journey.”

Taehyung's pet had been in critical health for a long time. In 2022, during an interview with GQ Magazine, BTS' V revealed that his pet underwent two unsuccessful surgeries and was on medication. The idol added:

“Hmm, Tan had a hard life. He's always had health problems. He can't breathe well, because his airways are quite small, and he faints if he runs even a little, so he had to have two surgeries this year, but they were unsuccessful... He has to rely on medication now."

During the interview, Taehyung also thanked his dog for enduring the suffering and not giving up. He hoped they might have a lifetime of good memories together. V also stated that he wishes to watch his dog all grown up. He continued:

"I want to tell him, "Thank you for putting up with the pain, not giving up and staying alive, even though it must have been so hard for you. I hope we can create a lifetime of happy memories together. I want to see you all grown up."”

ARMYs came forward to send their love to Tan. Kim Taehyung's fans flooded the internet with their blessings for his pet.

Recently, Tan was also featured on the album art of BTS’ V’s upcoming collaborative track, White Christmas. This track is slated for release on December 6, at 2 PM KST.
