The 6th Newsis Hallyu Expo 2024 is set to air today, August 22, 2024, live from The Great Hall at Chosun Palace in Yoksam, Seoul. Those unable to attend in person can catch the event via live stream on the official Newsis YouTube channel, @NewsisTV.

The ceremony, beginning at 3 pm KST, will recognize and celebrate the significant contributions of stars who have played a pivotal role in the global success of Korean content. The event will also showcase special celebratory performances from artists like H1-Key, Triple S, and Big Ocean, adding an extra layer of excitement to the occasion.

Esteemed actors including Go Min-si, Kim Soo-hyun, Kim Hye-yoon, and Byun Yo-han are confirmed to attend the event, where they will be recognized with prestigious accolades for their exceptional performances and significant contributions to the Korean television industry.

This year's Newsis Hallyu Expo 2024 has revealed its theme as 'REACT K-WAVE.' The event will delve into how Seoul can enhance its appeal as a tourist destination and explore new development strategies for the city.

A significant focus will also be on an open discussion titled "The possibility of a quantum jump in Hallyu as seen through the K-food craze" moderated by Big Data expert Song Gil-young. Panelists for this session include Ahn Tae-yang, CEO of Food Culture Lab, and popular YouTube creator Edmmer, also known as Yoon Suk-won.

The Expo will recognize South Korean actors and artists who have significantly contributed to the global spread of Hallyu. Notably, actor Kim Soo-hyun is set to receive the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Award for his exceptional performance in tvN's highly-rated drama, Queen of Tears.

Additionally, actor Byun Yo-han will be honored with the National Assembly Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee Chairman's Award for his role in Uncle Samsik while Kim Hye-yoon will receive the same for her exceptional performance in Lovely Runner.

Meanwhile, Go Min-si, who starred in all three seasons of Netflix's apocalyptic hit Sweet Home, will be awarded the Seoul Mayor's Award for her portrayal of Lee Eun-yoo, a character who confronts both internal and external horrors.

Actress Bona (Kim Ji-yeon) of WJSN will also be honored with the Seoul Tourism Foundation CEO Award for her role in Pyramid Game. The Hallyu Special Award will go to Big Ocean, the first hearing-impaired K-pop group, recognized for their remake of HOT’s Light.

Other prominent winners include H1-KEY, who will receive the Seoul Metropolitan Council Speaker’s Award for their hit Let It Burn in the female category, while actor Chae Jong-hyeop is set to receive the Seoul Tourism Foundation CEO Award for his performances in Eye Love You and Serendipity’s Embrace.

Additionally, Jeong Byeong-gi, CEO of Modhaus and the mastermind behind the 24-member girl group tripleS, will receive the Korea Creative Content Agency Award.


The Newsis Hallyu Expo, which began in 2019 will be hosting the sixth edition this year and aims to bolster the sustainability of Hallyu and foster a competitive cultural environment.
