On Tuesday, July 30, Newsen, a Korean media outlet, reported that the underground South Korean rapper, Ch1tkey, had allegedly passed away at the age of 21. However, it was later revealed that he simply faked his death to earn some fame and popularity through the news.

Ch1tkey is a small artist in South Korea who debuted in 2021 with the EP, OPIUM WAR. He has continued his career as a rapper who often collaborates with other upcoming and underground South Korean rappers. The initial news report suspected that his death occurred while trying to do a social media challenge.

To add more legitimacy to the story, one of the rapper's acquaintances stated to Newsen that he had slipped and fallen while filming the challenge on the roof of a five-story building. When he was taken to the hospital, he was pronounced dead.

Following the report on his death, several of his friends posted on their social media platforms, mourning the rapper's death, including his girlfriend, who wrote him a letter. While this made more people believe that the rapper passed away, he soon revealed that he faked his death.

Soon after the alleged death news, the rapper shared a reel where he promoted his new song, SXO2. He released the song a while after the news of his death began to spread on the internet. Therefore, the misinformation was to garner more attention to his new track. However, fans were not happy with his actions and criticized him for faking his death.
