On July 29, 2024, the X user @f*ck_youidiots shared a text exchange with a club's manager where the duo allegedly talked about SEVENTEEN's Mingyu's club habits, inviting backlash from the CARATs.
During the conversation, the manager sent a video featuring Mingyu to @f*ck_youidiots, claiming that the male artist was seated at the table, allegedly ordering the staff to bring girls into the club. In the text, the manager stated that the male artist allegedly hung out with girls and drank till 4 am.
When the X user asked whether "he chose the girls," the manager replied positively. The manager allegedly claimed that the SEVENTEEN member asked for girls to arrive at the table, and among them, he would select someone. Soon, the post circulated on social media and went viral among the fandom. It should be noted that the post is currently unavailable on X.
Subsequently, fans started defending SEVENTEEN's Mingyu by trending the phrase "PLEDIS PROTECT YOUR ARTISTS" on social media. This was done to direct Pledis Entertainment's attention towards the alleged clubbing allegations and take immediate action against the X user @f*ck_youidiots and the club manager who spread the rumors about the idol.
Netizens called out Pledis Entertainment for not providing security to the SEVENTEEN member against the ongoing speculations and showcased their anger toward the agency. Some fans also stated that the rumors about the idol allegedly enjoying at a club and picking girls were also debunked.
"THE BOYS HAVE BEEN USED AS A PUNCHING BAG FOR MONTHS NOW. FROM MALICIOUS ARTICLES, FAKE NEWS, RUMORS, LACK OF SECURITY, AND SO MUCH MORE. YET, YOU'VE GIVEN THEM NOT A SINGLE OUNCE OF PROTECTION. WHEN WILL YOU START DOING YOUR JOB? YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING, PLEDIS," a user reacted.
"This was proven all false &this is a LIES & SLANDERING. Mingyu was at the gym at night & do weverse live with carats at the same day. Also that side profile is clearly NOT HIM."- A user shared.
"This is serious allegations & should be reported to @pledis17_STAFF. This sites are being lay back to released "articles" just based on heresy without checking facts for clout. Carats that are able, pls create community notes. As this has already proven false based on evidences."- A user mentioned.
CARATs quickly devised their plan to protect the male artist. They urged the fandom to email Pledis Entertainment about the ongoing controversy faced by the SEVENTEEN member. Meanwhile, some fans also called out the agency for not taking any appropriate action to safeguard their artists' image, reputation, and health.
"You can help in emailing pledis these accounts that should be reported for spreading malicious contents about mingyu. Just click this link for pre-written email and modify your name and contact and attach the pictures then send.- A fan reacted.
"After how many cases like this they'll take some serious step?? Are you even trying like you DO know what's happening and still chose to stay silent."- A fan shared.
"When will you ever learn to protect your Artists right away. When will you start becoming an actual company that cares for their artists health, image, & safety."- A fan commented.
Fans debunked the ongoing clubbing speculations of SEVENTEEN's Mingyu
As the speculations regarding SEVENTEEN's Mingyu alleged clubbing went viral online, CARATs quickly denied the rumors. Since the alleged post was shared on July 29, 2024, the fandom concluded that the idol had a hectic day on July 28.
He was occupied communicating with CARATs on the South Korean social media platform, Weverse, and conducting intensive workout at the gym. They also debunked the video shared by MD in the conversation and stated that the person in the video was not Mingyu.
Subsequently, an X user, @mint9yu_u, stated in support of the idol that the person in the video didn't look like the male artist at all. They also cited that the idol visiting the club wasn't a big deal as he's an adult and could make his own decisions.
As the speculations about the idol allegedly ordering girls at the club circulated on social media like wildfire, an X user, @mingrts stated that the situation was going out of the fan's hands and the agency needed to do something about the controversy.
In recent news, the male artist was announced as the new global ambassador for the French luxury fashion house Dior on July 26, 2024.
