Before they appeared on season 3 of EXchange, it was revealed that Dahye and Dongjin had dated for 13 years before breaking up. During their time on EXchange 3, the two had multiple conversations and moments that reminded them of their previous relationship. Fans were heavily rooting for the couple to choose each other and reignite their romance during the show's finale. However, the two chose different partners, which disappointed fans. The decision almost cemented to fans the fact that Dahye and Dongjin had decided to part ways, despite their history together.

Thus, when the two announced that they had gotten back together, fans were excited and happy for the couple. The EXchange 3 contestants shared pictures of some Polaroids of them together on Instagram, announcing that they were dating again.

EXchange 3's Dahye and Dongjin announce their relationship through their personal Instagram accounts
When Dahye and Dongjin appeared on the dating reality show EXchange 3, it was revealed that they had ended their 13-year-long relationship due to some differences. It was also revealed that within the 13 years, they had broken up for shorter durations three times.
They met as teens when they were both trying to become K-pop idols but when their agency found out about their relationship, the couple was let go. However, Dahye joined a different agency and made her successful debut in the K-pop girl group, BESTie, while Dongjin decided not to pursue his dream of becoming a K-pop idol. He revealed that he did briefly work as the manager for the band BESTie.
The two called it quits after a disagreement on whether they wanted to proceed with the relationship into marriage. While Dahye wanted it, Dongjin was against it and the two ended their 13-year-long relationship.
When they were on EXchange 3, the couple discussed their former relationship and fans wanted them to get back together. However, by the end of the season, they chose different partners.
