NewJeans announces their departure from ADOR through an emergency press conference
On November 28, NewJeans held an emergency press conference to announce their departure from ADOR. The decision to terminate their contract came after receiving an email from ADOR, which stated that the fourteen days ultimatum wasn't sufficient time to fulfill the members' demands.
Regardless, NewJeans stated that they will move forward with their initial plan to depart the agency if the ultimatum is unmet. Here's what they said at the press conference:
"The contents of the email were serious. The email stated that 14 days was not enough time, that they regret there was no communication with ADOR, and that there were matters they couldn't address because they weren't ADOR's doing. "
They continued,
"However, they took no substantial action and we had made these demands back in September as well. The email was full of lies and excuses, and was merely a stalling tactic. Therefore, we are terminating our exclusive contract as of midnight on the 29th."
On the other hand, ADOR released a statement following the press conference. They stated that they regretted seeing the press conference happen without the members reviewing the email. They also stated that since NewJeans' contract with ADOR still stands valid, they requested they continue working under the agency.
