On June 25, 2024, Wonder Girls' Hyerim announced the pregnancy with the second child through her Instagram handle @wg_lim. The artist shared an Instagram reel where she, her husband, taekwondo athlete Shin Min-chul, and her son, Siwu, unveiled the first glimpse of the X-ray image of her second child.

In the reel, Wonder Girls' Hyerim and Shin Min-chul celebrated their second pregnancy. The couple were seated on a sofa, donning casual outfits. Their first son, Siwu, appeared on screen with a key chain and an X-ray image of a baby. The couple encouraged Siwu to go closer to the camera and showcase the X-ray picture, disclosing that the family was expecting a second child.

Wonder Girls' Hyerim unveiled the nickname of her second child

Wonder Girls' Hyerim not only shared a reel celebrating the news of her second pregnancy but also wrote a heartfelt caption. She noted the changes she's been feeling during her second pregnancy, and stated:

"We have some big news for you guys! Siwu has a little brother. Maybe it's the second child, and her belly is also coming out. From the preparation period to the symptoms and the first child, everything is really different!! Taekwondo is the twin. See you in good health baby. What is the gender of the twins?"

Hyerim further disclosed the nickname of the second baby in a similar message, which she wrote in English, and stated,

"We are absolutely overjoyed to announce that we are expecting baby number two! Our baby's nickname is "Thank Kong (inspired by Siwoo, who says "thank Kong" instead of "thank you" lol). We can't wait to meet you, baby!"

On the same day, Hyerim shared a video about the details regarding her pregnancy through her official YouTube channel, Lim's Diary. Wonder Girls' Hyerim disclosed that she was four months pregnant while filming the YouTube video. The artist shared that the couple had to wait for ten months for the second baby, which was longer than the first time when they were expecting Siwu.

Wonder Girls' Hyerim also elaborated on the difference in symptoms she experienced with her second child, compared to when she was pregnant with Siwu, and stated,

"I had it easy with my first one throughout. Not much morning sickness, either. I disliked the smell of salted seafood when opening the fridge, and that was it. Again, not much morning sickness. Not much going on, basically. I had a huge appetite. That's probably why I gained 20 kg, right? Right, it was no joke. I ate so much that my appetite was at an all-time high. Looking back at it, I had such a good time."

The Wonder Girls member elaborated on the things she wrote while experiencing pregnancy and stated:

"Definitely different symptoms. Morning sickness. The morning sickness is early with this one. At week four. I didn't throw up, but I felt sick all day. With my first one, I didn't take any morning sickness pills. But I do with this one. I feel sick, I don't feel well. A few days after I found out that I was 4 weeks pregnant, I had to stay in bed for three days. I lost a kg each day. I also started getting millet pimples. I think my skin was alright during my first one."

She continued,

"I keep craving fruits. I never found Korean melon tasty, I just didn't like it. But now, it's just so sweet and juicy to me. I didn't even like fruits. That's why I want to believe that it's a girl this time. Actually, well, a boy is welcome, of course, we've always wanted a daughter."

She also talked about transportation subsidies worth 700,000 KRW after entering the twelve weeks of pregnancy, nicknames for her baby bump, conception dreams, and other details regarding her motherhood.

Wonder Girls' Hyerim began dating taekwondo athlete Shin Min-chul in 2013, and the couple was engaged by May 2020. The duo tied the knot on July 5, 2020, and welcomed their first child, Siwu, on February 23, 2022.
