Kim Seokjin of BTS returned on July 12, 2024, after serving in the South Korean military for 18 months. As per the nation's law, every able-bodied male citizen between the ages of 18 and 30 is required to serve a mandatory period of 18 to 21 months in the forces (Army, Marines, and Air Force). After his discharge ceremony at the military center in Yeoncheon, the singer went directly to his company, HYBE.

The BTS star had previously promised his fans to come LIVE on Weverse the moment he got discharged. Staying true to his words, he drove to HYBE and held a live broadcast on Weverse to greet and converse with his fans—ARMY. Millions of fans joined the livestream at once, which resulted in the site crashing. The livestream was being watched by over 4.2 million ARMY globally.

Fans were baffled to see the platform crash and flooded X with their comments. They were amused that within minutes, the enthusiastic fandom had crashed the website just because they waited for 18 months to see the Abyss singer. One fan hilariously remarked,

"Y'all made the weverse crash."

Several others shared their amusement as well and filled X with hilarious comments. ARMYs commented that Weverse should have braced itself for this crisis and could have averted it if they had taken measures early on.

BTS Jin comes home to a swarm of fans waiting outside HYBE building to welcome him

BTS' eldest member held his livestream for 19 minutes and talked about various things, such as his work on a new composition. He mentioned forgetting how to sing as he hadn't practiced singing for 18 months due to his service. Furthermore, the Moon singer shared how he pitched the idea for the meet-and-greet event that will be held on June 13 at Jamsil Stadium.

The musician elaborated that he had suggested the idea of meeting 3,000 fans and giving each of them a hug to express his gratitude for their love and support throughout the years. BTS will mark its 11th anniversary on June 13, and since the rest of the band members won't be present due to their ongoing service, the Epiphany singer-songwriter suggested the event idea.

However, the creative director initially rejected his idea due to safety concerns. Nonetheless, he insisted on having an in-person meeting to celebrate the group's anniversary with ARMYs. In the end, the staff agreed to host the event for 1,000 fans instead of 3,000. The event selected 1,000 lucky fans through a random raffle on Weverse who would get to meet the BTS idol and speak to him.

In other news, all BTS members came to welcome the eldest members. Namjoon, J-hope, Taehyung, Jimin, and Jungkook arrived at the Yeoncheon military center to receive the Epiphany singer-songwriter. Suga joined the group later during the livestream, and the members posed for a group photo, which was later released on BTS' official X account (@BTS_twt).

J-hope will return from his military service in October 2024, while the rest of the five members will come back in June 2025. The members will resume their group activities in late 2025. Additionally, the group's eldest member is reportedly about to embark on his solo journey and release his debut solo album this year.
