On September 24, 2024, YG Entertainment confirmed BLACKPINK's group comeback and world tour in 2025. According to the South Korean media outlet Ten Asia, the artist management & entertainment company announced How You Like That hitting 1.7 billion views on YouTube. The track was released by BLACKPINK in 2020.
While sharing the milestone, they added,
"BLACKPINK plans to meet fans with a full group comeback and world tour in 2025."
Meanwhile, fans of the popular K-pop girl group were skeptical of the announcement. Notably, YG Entertainment had already announced the group's comeback album release and world tour for 2025 earlier in July 2024. Hence, the latest announcement left fans with mixed feelings.
"YG using the same card every time he wants to get the attention of the media and fans..." one fan wrote on X.
Others voiced similar opinions regarding the announcement and wondered if the "Blackpink" themselves were aware of the comeback.
"Does blackpink know about this" one fan wrote.
"WE NEED A FULL ALBUM WITH 20 SONGS IN IT!" another fan added.
"I'll believe when yg drops the comeback teaser," one fan said.
Fans also mentioned that they would only believe the announcement when YG Entertainment will finally release the tour dates.
"How many times they are going to say the same thing?" another fan wrote.
"I love the girls, but I'll be excited when we get there because I don't think this formula of long release gaps is going to work out. Is it that hard to do a comeback once a year?" one other fan stated.
"A world tour already??! i won’t believe it until i see the tour dates," another fan wrote.
BLACKPINK members terminated individual contracts with YG Entertainment and set up individual companies
In December 2023, YG Entertainment announced that all four BLACKPINK members had terminated their solo contracts with them. However, they renewed their group contract with them. Jennie established her company, ODDATELIER (OA), on December 24, 2023, while Lisa launched her company, LLOUD, on February 7, 2024.
Additionally, Jisoo announced the launch of her company, BLISSOO, on February 17, 2024. However, in June 2024, Rosé signed with The Black Label. It is a hip-hop subsidiary label under YG Entertainment and is headed by BLACKPINK's producer, Teddy.
Lisa signed a partnership deal between her label and RCA Records in May 2024. She dropped her comeback singles, ROCKSTAR and NEW WOMAN (feat. Rosalía) on June 28 and August 15, respectively.
Jennie debuted on the runway for Jacquemas show in July 2024, in Capri. On September 9, ODDATELIER signed with Columbia Records and Jennie is set to release her debut solo album under them.
Meanwhile, Jisoo's solo activities are managed by her company, BLISSOO, and she has been busy with her multiple acting projects. Reportedly, she wrapped up filming for the Korean film, Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, in May 2024. Simultaneously, she also finished filming for her upcoming K-drama, Influenza, in July 2024, set for a late 2024 release.
In other news, Jennie's debut solo album is set to be dropped in October 2024, while Lisa hasn't announced the release date for her album. Meanwhile, Rosé is reportedly working on her solo music.
