BTS’ Kim Taehyung's fellow military soldier was recently discharged from his duty and shared a message for him through his Instagram page. On October 31, 2024, Hwang Sung-hyun took to Instagram to open up about receiving encouragement and support from Kim Taehyung during his service in the military.
Hwang Sung-hyun stated that the BTS vocalist lent him ears and heard his concerns and also pushed him to pursue his dream. Moreover, when he chose a different path, Kim Taehyung continued to support him.
He wrote,
“Even when I chose a path different from what you suggested, you didn’t say much but simply believed in me. That really touched me. You treated my dreams as if they were your own, genuinely supporting me, and even when I was unsure about them, you believed in me. Because of that, I think I was able to strengthen my dreams even more.”

He further added that he would continue to work hard in the future and always remember the BTS member.
“I’m determined to work my hardest and keep pushing forward, inspired by the belief and support you gave me. Even though we’re far apart, I’ll always think of you in my heart, and no matter how tough things get or how much I feel like giving up, I’ll hold on to the dreams you helped me find and work hard not to give up.”
BTS’ Kim Taehyung's message to fellow military soldier on his discharge
On October 31, Hwang Sung-hyun, a soldier who served his military conscription alongside BTS’ V aka Kim Taehyung, shared a few photos with the K-pop idol with the message he received from him upon his discharge. According to Hwang Sung-hyun, his friendship with Kim Taehyung deepened while working out together at their base. He also shared that the BTS member treated his fellow soldiers to a meal when his latest English single FRI(END)S was released on March 15, 2024.
The soldier also shared the message he received from V on his military discharge. In the message, the Layover singer stated that he was happy to spend his military life with the soldier. He also added that he was concerned about their age gap, and despite being a senior to Hwang Sung-hyun, they were able to become friends. Kim Taehyung further encouraged the soldier to pursue his dreams and also asked him to stay in touch even after his discharge.
"I still haven’t forgotten, and it leaves a deep impression, you know. It’s a shame that we couldn’t be in the same platoon, Sunghyun. But as your friend and as your older brother, I truly congratulate you on your discharge. I hope you become an amazing bodybuilder and succeed in society. Even if you don’t succeed, don’t forget our memories together..”
He further added,
“I got so attached that it’s a bit embarrassing that I cried. Erase that from your memory. Thank you for warmly welcoming me even though I’m your senior. I was happy to create good memories with you over the past eight months!"
Meanwhile, BTS’ Kim Taehyung began his military service on December 11, 2024, at the Nonsan Training Center to complete his basic training for five weeks. He then underwent an additional three weeks of training to be a part of the Special Duty Team. V is currently serving the conscription as a member of the special military police unit, under the authority of the 2nd Army Corps Headquarters, in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province. He is expected to be discharged from his duties in 2025.
