The highly anticipated premiere of tvN's Cafeteria Operation (also known as Kongkongbapbap) airs at 8:40 PM on the 9th, as reported by X Sports News. The full version will be available on YouTube's Channel 15ya starting at 6 PM on the 10th. This unique variety show follows the comedic struggles of close friends Lee Kwang-soo and Do Kyung-soo (EXO’s D.O.) as they dive headfirst into the demanding world of restaurant management.
Their journey, filled with chaotic kitchen moments and heartfelt camaraderie, promises to entertain viewers. Joining them in this Green Bean Red Bean: Reap What You Sow spin-off will be Kim Woo-bin, Lee Young-ji, and SEVENTEEN's Hoshi and Mingyu.
Cafeteria Operation: What is in store for the audience?
In the teaser clip of Cafeteria Operation, Kwang-soo and Kyung-soo are seen signing an official contract with the head office, agreeing to some unusual terms: preparing 200 servings of food for production staff and utilizing 140 kilograms of Pyeongchang potatoes sourced from Gangwon-do. Lee Kwang-soo’s reaction to the seriousness of the deal—laughing and calling it “annoying”—sets the tone for the lighthearted dynamic between the duo.
They have to serve the staff of Egg Is Coming, the production team led by PD Na Young-suk, over three busy days with healthy and tasty food. Kyung-soo goes over the contract, and they stamp it. Kwang-soo makes sure everyone knows he is the boss and humorously asks Kyung-soo his age.
In Cafeteria Operation, the two assume their respective roles of CEO Lee Kwang-soo and Director Do Kyung-soo. Lee’s charismatic but occasionally clumsy leadership leads to near-kitchen disasters.
As they start serving, “This is not what I expected. I didn't think it would be this serious” says Kwang-soo.
Meanwhile, Do Kyung-soo, a former military chef, is easily able to cook large portions efficiently, even directing Kwang-soo at times. Despite frequent bickering, the two display a touching reliance on one another, with Kyung-soo affectionately teasing Kwang-soo for his earnest attempts to assist.
Adding to the excitement in Cafeteria Operation are surprise appearances by celebrity guests, including Kim Woo-bin, Lee Young-ji, and SEVENTEEN's Hoshi and Mingyu. Kim Woo-bin steps in as an external auditor, keeping the duo in check, while Lee Young-ji joins the kitchen staff as a part-timer, enthusiastically skewering fish cakes.
What is Green Bean Red Bean: Reap What You Sow?
Reap What You Sow brings together South Korean stars Kim Woo-bin, Lee Kwang-soo, Kim Ki-bang, and EXO’s D.O. in a rural farming experiment that’s as entertaining as it is unpredictable. It is produced by Na Young-seok—renowned for variety show hits like Three Meals a Day and Earth Arcade.
The series hands its celebrity cast a plot of land in Inje County, Gangwon Province, along with basic tools like shovels and hoes, allowing them to plant and cultivate whatever they desire.
D.O., the youngest member of the group, showcases his bold personality by calmly picking up a baby rattlesnake, leaving his older castmates in a state of panic. Kim Ki-bang, known for his roles in Boys Over Flowers and Gu Family Book, impresses everyone with his ingenuity, fixing a malfunctioning cultivator on the spot—a feat that leaves producer Na Young-seok in awe.
Kim Woo-bin, the tall and charismatic model-actor from Black Knight, has his image hilariously undercut by his castmates, who poke fun at his habit of using anything nearby—even a plastic bag filled with water—to squeeze in impromptu bicep curls.
Fans can watch Cafeteria Operation on YouTube's Channel 15ya starting January 9.
