On Monday, November 11, ARMYs brought attention to BIGHIT MUSIC's alleged lack of promotions for BTS Jungkook's solo career. They expressed that there have been no articles released about the idol's achievements with his solo tracks like Seven, Standing Next To You, etc.
They also pointed out the lack of articles related to his GOLDEN Exhibition, GOLDEN Documentary series, his GOLDEN album vinyl, etc. Since BTS and Jungkook have been some of the most successful artists under the agency, fans felt that it was unfair to promote an artist who reels in much profit for the company.
Here's how fans reacted to the same:
"I can't even understand this even from a basic business standpoint how you give zero support to your BIGGEST SELLER..."
"“company’s fav” barely gets recognition for his accomplishments" said a fan on X
"If you think this is normal behavior for a company to treat its artists, then you have a serious problem. WTF are you doing @BIGHIT_MUSIC?" stated an X user
"at this point i don’t think it’s far fetched to believe they’re trying to sabotage him and dim his popularity" added another user
More fans and netizens speculated that this alleged behavior from HYBE and its subsidiary BIGHIT MUSIC might be due to the idol's recent Instagram post in support of NewJeans.
"hybe is pulling a media blackout on all of jungkook’s achievements like it’s some sort of punishment" commented a netizen
"I feel like this is more of a message from the company towards JK. Their way to threaten and control him" said a fan
"hybe is very clearly punishing him for speaking up against the company" added another fan
"Are they imposing media blackout on him bcoz what he posted on IG?" stated a netizen
All you need to know about BTS Jungkook's Instagram post in support of NewJeans
In September, the NewJeans members kickstarted an emergency YouTube livestream where they talked about their concerns regarding their agency, ADOR. Following the change in CEO of ADOR, from Min Hee-jin to Kim Joo-young, the members stated that they were not happy with the new system.
The member Hanni specifically pointed out an incident where she was mistreated and disregarded by a staff member at HYBE Labels. When she took these concerns to the new CEO, Kim Joo-young allegedly framed her as a liar and dismissed her problem. Moreover, NewJeans, in general, expressed their displeasure in working with the new ADOR management.
Following the same, Jungkook releases two Instagram posts through his pet dog's account, @bowwow_bam. The caption of these posts read the following:
"Artsits are not guilty. " In another post the artist added, "Don't use them."
While fans speculated that these could be directed towards the situation at hand with NewJeans, BIGHIT MUSIC released a statement confirming that it was the idol's choice to upload the posts in support of NewJeans. Here's what the statement read:
"We have confirmed that he posted it because he thought that under no circumstances should a young artist be dragged into a dispute and used as a shield."
However, given that Jungkook reportedly spoke and stood up against HYBE Labels with his Instagram posts, many believe that the recent alleged sabotage or lack of promotions for the idol's solo success is a result of the label's displeasure with his actions.
