On August 20, 2024, K-pop boy group ZEROBASEONE's agency, WAKEONE, released an official statement through their account on X, announcing that they have filed a lawsuit against netizens who circulated offensive comments and violated the group's privacy. The record label titled the announcement update, 'Information regarding legal response to infringement of rights of affiliated artists.'

WAKEONE revealed that they planned to utilize every lawful means and method, including domestic and international, to ensure the proper punishment of the netizens involved in committing illegal acts. The agency stated that the guilty would be punished by law after the agency found the illegal posts/acts that had deliberately targeted their artists.


WAKEONE to punish the netizens involved in spreading malicious comments against ZEROBASEONE

According to the press release shared by WAKEONE on social media, the agency has joined hands with domestic law firm Sejong and legal experts to punish the offenders involved in spreading malicious comments and breaching the privacy of ZEROBASEONE. The record label commented, as translated by Google:

"Our company, together with the domestic law firm 'Sejong' and legal experts, has mobilized all possible means to investigate illegal activities related to ZEROBASEONE on all domestic and foreign channels such as YouTube, X (Twitter), Instagram, Facebook, and Online Community since the beginning of this year."

The statement continued,

"We conducted monitoring of posts and illegal activities and secured a large amount of evidence for legal punishment."

The agency further disclosed that they had submitted strong evidence to the police and filed a complaint regarding the illegal acts that had threatened the safety and privacy of the group members.

As stated by WAKEONE in their statement, the illegal acts that threatened the safety and privacy of the group's members included attempts to contact the artists directly, obtaining personal information through illegal sources, and trespassing on the artists' residences. They added,

"Some of the complaints resulted in legal discrimination that was not decided after a police investigation." as translated by Google.

The agency further assured the group's fandom, ZE_ROSE, that they were continuously conducting self-monitoring to safeguard the rights, reputation, personality, and privacy of their artists.

WAKEONE also confirmed that they would showcase no clemency, leniency, or agreement with the offenders and netizens who spread negativity about the group. The agency mentioned that even if the process were time-consuming, they would work towards eradicating the illegal activities.

The agency concluded the official statement by revealing that they were always grateful for the fandom's generous encouragement and would continue to protect ZEROBASEONE's rights and interests.
