No Gain No Love dropped the final episodes 11 and 12 on September 30 and October 1, respectively, on tvN. No Gain No Love follows the story of Son Hae-young, played by Shin Min-ah, a woman in her thirties who does not want to suffer any loss.
Meanwhile, Kim Ji-uk, played by Kim Young-dae, is a man with an attractive personality who is known as an angelic dog for helping people in need. Son Hae-young gets into a fake marriage with Kim Ji-uk, who is not fond of her, for a job promotion that would benefit married employees only. The story begins to get interesting when their fake marriage takes a new turn as they develop romantic feelings for each other.

In the final episode of No Gain No Love, Son Hae-young parted ways with Kim Ji-uk only to realize that she could not live without him. Kim Ji-uk was liberated from the promises he made to his grandmother, mother, and Son Hae-young’s mother. Son Hae-young was able to love Kim Ji-uk without being calculative about any losses.

In Episode 11 of No Gain No Love, Son Hae-young distanced herself from Kim Ji-uk after learning that he was her mother Lee Eun-ok’s (Yoon Bok-in) last foster child. Son Hae-young was furious that he hid this fact from her and was enraged at her mother for running the foster care house even after her father's tragic death.
Son Hae-young visited her mother's old house located in the countryside, and Kim Ji-uk followed her. At times, Son Hae-young was sad that her mother did not remember her anymore. That day, Kim Ji-uk showed her a video where Lee Eun-ok was holding a baby at the old-age nursing home and saying that the baby was her daughter, Son Hae-young.
While returning home, Son Hae-young tried reaching out to Nam Ja-yeon (Han Ji-hyun). However, she does not pick up her call, raising concern as Nam Ja-yeon's abusive father, who killed Son Hae-young's father, was out of prison. On the other hand, Nam Ja-yeon was attacked by her father, who was looking for her mother. Fortunately, Bok Gyu-hyun (Lee Sang-yi) was able to save her as Kim Ji-uk called him at the right time.
Meanwhile, after reaching home, Son Hae-young encountered Nam Ja-yeon’s father and confronted him before he was then taken away by the cops. Nam Ja-yeon realized that Son Hae-young knew about her father and ended up in tears. Son Hae-young explained that she decided to live with Nam Ja-yeon after the incident because she did not want to suffer another loss after her father and it was her only chance to protect Nam Ja-yeon.
By the end of episode 11 of No Gain No Love, Son Hae-young receives a call from the nursing home about her mother's death. The final episode began with Son Hae-young, Cha Hui-seong (Joo Min-kyung), Kim Ji-uk, and Nam Ja-yeon preparing for Lee Eun-ok’s funeral. Although Son Hae-young and Lee Eun-ok did not see eye to eye, she realized her mother lived a fulfilling life as many people who spent time at her foster home visited her.
After wrapping up the funeral, Kim Ji-uk said that he would not leave Son Hae-young’s side as he made a final promise to Lee Eun-ok. Son Hae-young broke up with him as she did not want him to be burdened with another promise, and this would also be burdensome for her. Son Hae-young wished to stay true to herself, and as this would cause Kim Ji-uk a loss, she liberated him from all the promises.
No Gain No Love season 2 possibilities explored
In the final episode, Kim Ji-uk left the country as he had promised his half-brother Bok Gyu-hyun. After a few months, he returned to South Korea to attend a close relative's wedding from his stepdad's side, but Son Hae-young mistook it for his wedding.
On her birthday, she saw Kim Ji-uk in her neighborhood and congratulated him. Before bidding him farewell, she recalled an old memory of Kim Ji-uk giving her a lighter. Kim Ji-uk followed her to her house and reminded her that she would never forget the person who taught her how to smoke. Kim Ji-uk told Son Hae-young that it meant that she never forgot about him and that she missed him. He also told her that it was good to be free of keeping promises, but he missed her.
No Gain No Love wrapped up by giving closure to each character and leaving no room for further queries. This lowers the chances of a second season of the rom-com drama; however, nothing has been confirmed by tvN or Prime Video.
Meanwhile, No Gain No Love spin-off Spice Up Our Love, starring Han Ji-hyun and Lee Sang-yi, will be released on October 3, 2024, on TVING and Prime Video.
